Numerous technology improvements, the majority of which have been helpful to people, have attracted attention in recent years. And it appears that these technological advancements have resulted in the formation of popular social media platforms, as well. Around the world, more than 3.6 billion people used social media, with that number predicted to grow to approximately 4.41 billion by 2025. You may be asking which social media platforms to employ if you've been entrusted with building a social media strategy for your organization and are unsure of where to begin. When it comes to these platforms, you may not be aware of the distinctions between them or how to use them effectively for business or entertainment, but don't worry, for we will teach you everything you need to know about them in this article.
Almost everyone can recognize the purple and peach camera icon that is Instagram's logo. Instagram or simply the "gram" was launched only a decade ago on October 6, 2010. The gram's main purpose is to allow users to share photos and videos online in great quality. However, it is also a widely used marketing tool, which is more often than not supported by an Instagram growth service. Some of its features include an in-app camera with amazing filters that you can put on your pictures during or after taking a shot. According to stats published on The Small Business Blog, it has over 1 billion active monthly users 33.1% of which are aged 25-34 and of its total users 51% are female and 49% are male. A testament to Instagram's popularity is the 50 billion pictures that were uploaded in the platform along with the fact that 1k photos are uploaded every second. The gram is known for its filters and its good quality photos, unlike other apps that can't offer a better deal than they can.
TikTok
TikTok is a Chinese-based social media platform that showcases short-form videos of the newest challenges and trends on the internet. This platform was launched in China in September 2016 as Douyin and eventually released outside of the country in 2017 as TikTok. Since then TikTok has been used for uploading short videos that highlight the current viral challenges. As of July 2019, TikTok had 500 million active monthly users and of its total global users 53% are males and 47% are females half of which are aged 34 and below. This short video platform was the most downloaded application in 2020 with 850 million downloads and was downloaded for a total of 2.6 billion times worldwide. With the number of challenges and music available in TikTok, its popularity has risen because of how easy it is to make content and the influencers who migrated to the platform. The major difference between TikTok and the other social media platforms is it is centered around making short videos with catchy music playing in the background that revolves around different challenges circulating in the app.
Twitter is another social media mega-giant among the ranks of Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram. The bird app was first launched on the 26th of May in the year 2006 in San Francisco, California, United States. Most known for its tweeting notification alert, this social media platform is commonly used for self-expression, sharing opinions, and creating polls that everyone may participate in. As of 2021 Twitter's users aged around 25-34 make up 28.5% of its global audience and with over 192 million daily users, 62% of them are male and 32% are female. The tweeting app as I have already mentioned has a huge number of daily active users amounting to 192 million people and in 2018 at least 5.7k tweets are tweeted every second amounting to 500 million tweets per day. The success it has become today has something to do with the control you have over your account and the concise way of tweeting. You can simply block the people you want to hide from or go private to prevent strangers from seeing your tweets and Twitter's famous character limit teaches you to clearly and briefly explain your thoughts. Twitter has different options for you to choose from when tweeting such as text, photos, or video formats but unlike the other apps, it focuses more on the text format.
Conclusion
These social media platforms are utilized in several ways. Individual engagement, expression of creativity, and business are all possible uses for this technology. Make sure you know what you want before you enter the social media arena, and use the tips provided when you begin your social media adventure. Aside from that, social media usage requires responsibility. Make sure you use this for your benefit and not to inconvenience others.
