Have you ever had a Smithfield Boneless Netted Pork Shoulder Blade Roast? Until recently, I didn't even know what a netted roast was - where have I been living, under a rock?!
I partnered with Smithfield on this sponsored post and I am so glad I did because this is the easiest way to cook a pork shoulder roast ever! It keeps the roast intact during the cooking process.
While I do love to make pulled pork, it's kind of a pain in the butt when it all starts falling apart as you're removing it from the pan! Pulled pork is said by some to be the “new bacon,” and I saw that firsthand in Destin last month when I was served Pulled Pork Nachos!
Pulled pork is a perfect option for tailgates and game-day entertaining recipes, and just in time for all of our upcoming tailgating parties, Smithfield wants to help us “Porkify” our game day with their cool Most Valuable Pork Sweepstakes.
Oh wait...did I tell you guys what Porkifying is? “Porkifying” is the art of propelling average recipes to maximum deliciousness by adding or substituting juicy, mouthwatering pork. YUM.
That is exactly what I did when I put my Smithfield Boneless Pork Shoulder Roast into the slow cooker with a ton of jerk seasoning rub on it and slow cooked it for eight hours...to make this Jerk BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich!
Then shredded it with a fork - because I didn't even need to use a knife! - and slathered it with my favorite barbecue sauce and piled it high on a slice of butter bread.

Barbecue Pulled Pork Open Faced Sandwiches
Ingredients
- Smithfield Netted Pork Shoulder Roast
- Jerk Seasoning Rub
- Barbecue Sauce
- Texas Toast
Instructions
- Place netted pork shoulder roast into a large slow cooker and pour seasoning all over the top. Cover and cook for eight hours on low.
- Remove from slow cooker, remove the netting and shred the pork with a fork, then toss with barbecue sauce.
- Pile high on Texas Toast.
This was my first time cooking with a Smithfield Boneless Pork Shoulder Roast and I found that it being hand-trimmed made it so much easier to prepare in a slow cooker.
It would also work great on a smoker or in the oven for simple, delicious pulled pork recipes!
To enter the Most Vauable Pork Sweepstakes, just take a photo of a delicious dish that has been “porkified” and post it on Instagram or Twitter using the hashtags #porkify and #contest.
All eligible entries will be automatically uploaded to Porkify.com, where friends can vote for your entry for a chance to win.
One lucky pork enthusiast will win the Ultimate Game Day Prize Package, including a Weber Smoker, BBQ Toolset, meat thermometer, Smithfield apron, meat timer, box of BBQ seasonings and grilling accessories, and a Weber Cookbook. For full sweepstakes details and recipes ideas, click here.
