Get Ready to Glow This Spring!

Published: Mar 10, 2022 · Modified: Oct 4, 2023 by Jennifer · This post may contain affiliate links · Leave a Comment

Are you ready for spring? We all know that dry winter weather can leave your skin and hair looking drab and dull. With nicer weather around the corner, it is time to give yourself some TLC and get “springtime fresh!”.

The warmer weather is on its way, which means it’s time to start thinking about getting your skin and hair ready for some serious exposure. In this blog post, I’ll share some of my favorite ways to get my complexion and tresses looking their best as the weather gets warmer. Whether you’re prepping for a beach vacation or just trying to look your best for the season, these tips will have you covered. So let’s get started!

    Head to Toe Glow

Your whole body is feeling the effects of stale indoor air and cold, harsh winds. That is why you will want to pamper yourself from the tips of your hair to the tips of your toes.

The first thing you need to do is eliminate all those dead skin cells. So, get in the shower and pamper your skin with your favorite whole-body scrub. Be sure to get your chest and decolletage, elbows, knees, and the bottoms of your feet because these are the areas that we usually neglect. Spend some extra time rinsing to make sure you have removed all of the body scrub.

After your shower, apply shea butter to your body. Shea butter has five different fatty acids, including arachidic, linoleic, oleic, palmetic, and stearic. It will moisturize and soften your skin, and it also works as a barrier to protect your skin from pollutants.

Petroleum jelly is another excellent moisturizer you can apply, especially to the heels of your feet. Right before bed, slather your feet with petroleum jelly and put on a pair of cotton socks. You’ll wake up with smooth and soft feet.

    Silky Hair

The lack of moisture can make your hair feel dry and brittle during the winter. It also gives you a bad case of flyaway hair caused by static electricity.

Massaging your head with rich, moisturizing oils can be an excellent way to keep it from becoming itchy and dry. Coconut and olive oil work wonders at soothing irritated skin while providing nutrients all over by penetrating deep into the follicles.

Don’t forget to condition your hair. Try using one with natural oils that help hydrate, like coconut or olive oil, for added nourishment.

Hair masks are a great way to help moisturize and nourish your hair. They are especially beneficial for dry, damaged, or frizzy locks that need some extra TLC! Once a week indulge in super hydrating hair treatments.

    Baby-Soft Face

You will want to be careful using facial cleansers in the winter. Some contain harsh ingredients and may dry out your skin. Use a moisturizing, foaming cleanser and massage it gently in a circular motion. Rinse your face with lukewarm water.  Don’t use hot water as it can rob your skin of essential oils, further drying out your skin.

Follow up your cleanser with a rich moisturizer. While it may feel thick, it’s locking moisture in and providing a barrier against dry air and cold winds.

Once a week, while the hair mask is doing its thing, apply a pumpkin enzyme mask to your face - it will get rid of dead skin cells that make your skin look dull.

    Soft Lips

Don’t head into spring with winter’s cracked lips. Take some time to give your mouth some attention. First, take a dry toothbrush with dry bristles (a baby toothbrush works great). Gently brush your lips to remove dry skin and dead skin cells (yes, they’re even on your lips). Follow up with a moisturizing lip balm.

    The Wrap

Spring is finally on the horizon, and with it comes warmer weather, sunny days, and the desire to get your hair, body, and face ready for all of the fun in store. We hope this article has given you some ideas about how to prepare your skin and hair for the coming season. Are you excited for warmer weather? Let us know in the comments below!
