Calming the Mind, Relaxing the Body

Published: Jun 10, 2019 · Modified: Jun 10, 2019 by Jennifer · This post may contain affiliate links · Leave a Comment

Many people live highly stressful lives. They are on the go 24/7 without taking any time out of their busy day to simply relax. When you overwhelm the mind and body with constant thoughts and performance, a breakdown is inevitable. The good news is that there are many ways to calm your mind and relax your body so that you can remain fully energized for work and your family.

    Meditation

Meditation allows you to get in tune with your body and mind connected as one. It helps you to improve focus; mental clarity reduces depression, anxiety, and stress and even helps to alleviate pain. When you meditate, you leave the existing world and become one with you. From the very first time they meditate, most people see an improvement in their feelings, attitude, and self-worth. Other people use meditation as a means to break free from an addiction such as drugs, alcohol, or over-eating.

    A Retreat

A retreat has many of the same benefits as meditation. However, when you go to a retreat, you leave your natural surroundings, helping to make the spiritual healing of the body and the mind easier. You also do a variety of activities designed to enhance your focus, improve your thoughts, changing them from negative to positive, and ultimately achieving personal growth. This can help make you calm, centered, and better able to tackle the challenges you face in your life.

    Keeping a Journal

Writing your daily thoughts onto paper makes you aware of the way you feel from day to day in black and white. It also allows you to dispense with things that bother you through words on a paper versus keeping them bottled up inside. Once you write them, they gain air and breathe, allowing you to move on.

    Fresh Air

There's something about the great outdoors that instantly soothes the soul and calms the mind. Maybe it's that you are alone, away from the day to day hustle and bustle or that you feel free. Getting outdoors, whether on a camping or hiking trip or a simple brisk walk each morning or at lunchtime while at work can prove highly beneficial to your mental state.

    Yoga

Yoga sessions either at home or at the gym give you a way to combine meditation and exercise in one. Yoga is spiritual yet not a religion and requires discipline to experience the many positive benefits to the mind and the body. It's about finding you, the real you, deep inside, through breathing, posture, and attitude. Yoga is easy to start, and there are many different types of practice. You will need a yoga mat, towel, and other optional accessories such as mala beads to help with the meditation, as well as a safe place to store them.

    Body Massage

Getting a full body massage at a spa can prove the ultimate in total relaxation. The room generally has the fresh scent of soothing real and sensual oils that instantly wipe your thoughts from your mind. You use many of your muscles daily and when you are active and on the go constantly, a full body massage can not only help with the aches and pain but also relieve stress.

    Hot Bath

Where a cold shower gets the blood pumping, and your body energized, a hot bath does just the opposite, calming and relaxing you from head to toe. Adding Epson salts to the water helps with your aches and pains and can also act as a natural cleanser that can provide you with a relaxing session that also leaves you feeling good and prepared for a good night's sleep.

At times, life can overwhelm you and cause you to remain stressed, anxious, or depressed. Thankfully, there are many ways to calm the mind and relax the body so you can carry on virtually unscathed.
