5 Foodstuffs that Help Ward Off Cancer

What you put into your body will determine whether you come to be diagnosed with cancer, can prevent cancer from spreading, and ultimately whether you survive your cancer.

One advocate of a strong, balanced diet is Paul Kraus. He is the owner of www.survivingmesothelioma.com and has managed to battle the deadly cancer mesothelioma for over twenty years.

His big secret was and continues to be eating right, and here are the five foodstuffs he attributes to helping fight off cancers.

    Green Tea

Green tea has always played a big role in traditional Chinese medicine. It’s only recently that scientists have discovered that the antioxidants in green tea allow damaged cells to die.

Cell damage alone isn’t enough to cause cancer. If the cells are able to die before they turn cancerous, the person is going to remain healthy.

This is a tea designed to keep you healthy, so try to have at least one cup per day.

    Trout

Fish are always recommended for healthy individuals. Trout is especially rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Scientists know that these fatty acids are able to fight back against inflammation. Inflammation produces the conditions needed for cancer to develop and spread, so it’s more of a problem than you think.

Feel free to serve trout how you like. It’s potent no matter how you decide to cook it.

    Bulgar Wheat

Bulgar wheat is likely something you didn’t expect to see on this list. But the British Medical Journal states that the more whole grain you take in the lower your overall cancer risk.

Most doctors believe this is because of more fiber in your diet. And bulgar wheat is one of the most fiber-rich foods you can find.

And it’s easy to incorporate it into your diet. All you need to do is swap a bowl of oatmeal for bulgar. You could even throw it into your salad for a lunchtime meal.

    Navy Beans

Now that you know how important fiber is for both preventing and fighting cancer, you should concentrate on getting as much of it into your diet as you can.

Navy beans are an excellent source of fiber. You’ll find 10 grams of fiber in one-half cup of navy beans. The American Institute for Cancer Research has already recommended these beans for those at risk of colorectal cancer.

Navy beans are easy to insert into soups and stews.

    Pumpkin Seeds

Pumpkin seeds have never been a favorite dietary staple, but rather than throwing them in the trash consider eating them as trail mix or in a salad.

They contain high amounts of vitamin E, which scientists believe is potent at fighting against tumors directly. Scientists believe that pumpkin seeds are more potent in this manner than the majority of seeds and nuts commonly recommended by doctors.

    Last Word – Eating Right

Don’t just focus on the obvious when it comes to eating right. Take a look at the smaller things. These five foodstuffs are excellent additions to your diet, without the effort of changing your usual eating habits.

Do you have any other ideas for foodstuffs that ward off cancer?
