Ham Cheese and Rice Skillet Recipe


  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1/4 cup diced onion
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 3/4 cup white rice
  • 1-1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup chopped ham
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • chopped fresh parsley optional for serving


  1. Add oil, onion and garlic in a skillet and mix well. Heat over medium low heat until onions are translucent.
  2. Add rice broth, ham and oregano and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to simmer and cover.
  3. Cook for 15-20 minutes or until rice is tender and most of liquid is absorbed.
  4. Stir in half of the cheese.
  5. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top and cover until melted, about 1-2 minutes.
  6. Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley, if desired, before serving.
