Ham Cheese and Rice Skillet Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • ¼ cup onion diced
  • 1 tablespoon garlic minced
  • ¾ cup white rice
  • 1-½ cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup ham chopped
  • 1 teaspoon oregano dried
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • parsley chopped fresh , optional for serving

Instructions

  • Add oil, onion and garlic in a skillet and mix well. Heat over medium low heat until onions are translucent.
  • Add rice broth, ham and oregano and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to simmer and cover.
  • Cook for 15-20 minutes or until rice is tender and most of liquid is absorbed.
  • Stir in half of the cheese.
  • Sprinkle remaining cheese on top and cover until melted, about 1-2 minutes.
  • Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley, if desired, before serving.
