Saint Patrick's Day Muddy Buddies Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 bag green Wilton Candy Melts
  • 1 cup of marshmallows from Lucky Charms Cereal
  • 6 cups Chex Rice Cereal
  • 1/3 teaspoon shortening like Crisco
  • 2 cups powdered sugar confectioner sugar

Instructions

  1. Microwave your candy melts in a microwave safe bowl for 45 seconds, then stir microwave for another 30 seconds, then stir again. At this point, the candy will be mostly melted. Microwave for an additional 20 seconds if necessary to make sure its completely melted.
  2. Stir in shortening to thin out the candy melts and make it easier to coat the cereal.
  3. Pour the Chex Rice Cereal into a gallon sized Ziploc bag and pour in the melted candy. Gently shake the bag, rolling it around so that the cereal coats evenly with the melted candy.
  4. Pour onto a cookie sheet lined with wax paper and spread it out as thinly as possible.
  5. Sift powdered sugar all over the cereal. Lift the ends of the waxed paper and roll the cereal around to distribute the sugar. Repeat until you have the desired coverage.
  6. Place into the fridge for about five minutes, so that the candy hardens and sets.
  7. Pour into a bowl, add your marshmallows and toss to distribute. No one wants a bite without marshmallows!
