Taking care of diet while travelling

Published: Aug 3, 2020 · Modified: Apr 13, 2023 by Jennifer · This post may contain affiliate links · Leave a Comment

Who has trouble dieting while traveling? Dieting can be difficult at best, and even more so when you are away from home. Whether it's long trips, short vacations, or regular work trips, staying healthy on the go is much more complicated than at home.

There is over a month now when I first started a diet to be slim, and now I've lost 13 lbs. Hooray! It's without getting a lot of exercises and sticking to the plan (most of the time). It is usually effortless to stick to a plan when you are at home

If I'm hungry in my absence, it's hard to find a healthy snack other than an apple or a banana, and don't start looking for something more substantial for lunch or dinner.

You would think it would be relatively easy these days with all the varied diets that people follow, gluten-free, dairy-free, meat-free, but somehow sugar and unhealthy things get together. Still slip into a lot of food. Discovered.

Here are my top tips for keeping track of your diet when traveling

Eat a healthy but filling breakfast.

If you are staying in a hotel, you probably get a buffet breakfast. Just because you have everything you can eat sausage, bread, and hot chocolate on tap doesn't mean you have to eat it all.

There are usually plenty of healthy options at the breakfast buffet, like fruit and yogurt, or order porridge made with water for your healthy B choice.

    Say no to alcohol

I know that if you are at a business conference and your free unlimited wine is in full force to avoid drinking as much as possible. If you are now considered in obese after alcohol, check this paleo diet for weight loss

Then I continued to fill my champagne glass with water to make myself (and everyone else) think I was still in the drink! Not bad, I said, and my head thanked me for the next morning too.

    Walk more

When I'm not working, it usually means I'm working on the couch, or sometimes at my desk, but I don't walk far anyway except a few steps towards the kettle and back. I can quickly go without leaving home all day, and my step count stays under 200. You can also eat plant-based diet while travelling as it is more friendly in such situations.

In London, it's a different story, and overall, I take 10,000 steps a day without too much effort, which must surely help me lose weight, even in a modest way! Try to walk between meetings whenever possible and always take the stairs. Every step makes a difference.

    Chocolate and Coffee

Perhaps the hardest part about going to the office two days a week the number of cakes, chocolate, and cookies that seem to be on sale every day. Seriously!

No advice except staying healthy, you got that! Eat a banana!

    Make salad

If you have a hard time with a kitchen to prepare food and are away for a while, make your salad. Prepare some fresh, healthy salad for you. You can buy prepared meats, and you can quickly cook some couscous or quinoa by boiling the kettle.
