Summer Cleaning Tips for People Who Hate Cleaning

The thing is...as much as I have enjoyed saving money by cleaning the house myself, I REALLY HATE CLEANING. Next week I am starting a brand new job. That's right, I am going BACK TO WORK at a real day job! I am already dreading having to clean my house on my days off, so I thought I'd share these Summer Cleaning Tips for People Who Hate Cleaning!

While I have had a housekeeper for close to a decade, the Covid pandemic kinda messed that up for myself AND my housekeeper that I have had for about 3 years now. During the lockdown, she was not able to come every 2 weeks as she usually did - and then she began a new business venture so I am completely without her now.

This is definitely a good thing in terms of saving money, as things are pretty tight financially due to COVID19 and some things happening within the family (I am remodeling my house and my daughter is about to pop with her first baby)!

Summer Cleaning Tips for People Who Hate Cleaning

Start Small So That You Don't Get Overwhelmed

Instead of saying to yourself, "I am going to clean my house today," start small. Say, "I am going to clean my bathroom today." Sure, you may finish cleaning the bathroom and have the time and energy to clean the kitchen too, but you won't start the project with a sense of dread because you know you just have ONE space to clean at a time.

Keep Spaces Clutter Free So That You Have Less Work To Do

Maybe it’s your cluttered, coffee-splattered desk, or it’s your bedroom that you spend the most time in. Commit to keeping your primary work or living area clean and clutter-free with bags for storage like Rokey vacuum bags. Clean off your desk at the end of every workday, clean your kitchen counters every time you finish making dinner. Once you do this it will become easier to tackle those other places that need more work!

Prioritize Things That Matter to You

If something you have doesn't make you feel good, for any reason, get rid of it to make space for something that does. This could be a piece or art, furniture, clothes, dishes, or just about anything. The stuff we have becomes a trigger for different emotional states, so when you choose to only have things around that evoke happiness or contentment, you create that in your life.

Over the last 5 weeks, I have been slowly tackling the mountain of junk that was in our spare bedroom. I listed most of it on eBay and have made over $3,000 - which I used to finance Angeline's baby shower (can you believe that decorations, food, drink and the cake was about $1,000?) and buy her a lot of stuff that was on her registry. I used the rest to pay off my Amazon credit card. Ha! So now that room has much more breathing room (I still have stuff to move around and organize because we use it like a storage unit) and I don't feel sick when I walk past it. I may even invest in floor buffers to make sure my floors stay sparkly clean going forward!

    Take a Deep Breath

Very few people actually really enjoy cleaning their house, so take a moment to breathe deeply and focus on the space you want to create for yourself. Breathing is connected to good mental health and lowering stress levels, so take a deep breath or ten before you start. It will help you focus and get motivated. Or if you are in Chicago, you can skip all of these tips and just hire a Chicago cleaning company. If you are in Boise, there are also great cleaning companies available to you, like Fabulously Clean Boise, and you can go to site to learn more about their services and prices.

Use Cleaning Products that Make Cleaning Easier

Now, there are many things on the market that help making cleaning easier, so check out this awesome brand, Persik, that has a line of cleaning products to make our least favorite pastime easier so it gets done quicker!
