Snapshots of a Day in New York City

When Angeline and I were planning our spring break trip to South Africa for my Groupon Getaways partnership, we had to fly out of JFK. Since I was buying flights from Miami to New York City ANYWAY, and Angeline had never been there, I decided to make a little pre-trip of it! I purchased tickets to fly into New York City on Friday morning, which gave us two entire days before we left for South Africa on Sunday morning. Unfortunately, it was snowing when we landed - and not a pretty, let's take all the pictures!! snow...it was a slushy, wet and miserable snow. As we are both born and raised in Miami, Florida, this basically sent us running to our hotel to hide under the covers. We did a little sight-seeing in Midtown, went to Times Square, and we ate at a few trendy places including Magnolia Bakery.

Oh...and Angeline's first visit to Shake Shack! I took her to the one in Grand Central Station, which totally took her by surprise. She immediately recognized it from movies and was so excited to be there in person! As I lost my iPhone in South Africa, I don't have any photos of that experience. The only photos I have from our entire weekend are the ones I took on our second day with my Sony Alpha a5100 and three photos I shared on Foursquare when I checked into places.

Seriously? From now on, I am going to check in EVERYWHERE on Foursquare! Ha! I had OneDrive and Google+ photo back up but for some reason, neither one ever synced while we were in NYC.

We were sleep-training ourselves to get closer to the South African time zone, so we were in bed Friday night by 6 pm. Well, when we got up on Saturday, the skies had cleared somewhat and we set off to explore the city!

We went to the Statue of Liberty...

Of course also walked over to Times Square once the sun began to set so that Angeline could see it all lit up!

I think I need to take Angeline back to New York City to recreate all of those fantastic photos that I lost...
