I think the motto for ABC Family's Baby Daddy should be, "Come for the eye candy, stay for the laughs." I wasn't familiar with ABC Family's Baby Daddy until I was invited to visit LA for the Into the Woods press event, but they made a quick fan out of me!
Baby Daddy is a half-hour comedy that follows Ben, a young man in his early 20s living the life of a bachelor in New York City with his buddy, Tucker, and his brother, Danny. Their lives are turned upside down when they come home one day to find a baby girl left on the doorstep by an ex-girlfriend of Ben’s. After much deliberation, Ben decides to raise the baby with the help of his friends and his protective and sometimes over-bearing mother, Bonnie, and his close female friend, Riley.
The series stars Jean-Luc Bilodeau as Ben, Derek Theler as Danny, Tahj Mowry as Tucker, Melissa Peterman as Bonnie, and Chelsea Kane as Riley.
We visited the set of Baby Daddy and watched a show being filmed as well as interviewed all of the cast - we even got to take photos with each member of the cast after their interviews!
I can imagine that Baby Daddy appeals to a lot of women in particular because hello, it's a show about a great looking group of guys and BABIES!
Now, while we were interviewing the cast one at a time, there was actually a live taping of the show right behind them. We were all whispering quietly as not to interrupt filming, but unfortunately, it was SO quiet that none of my audio recordings turned out!
In a nutshell, we asked each actor about their history in the industry, what they liked about working on ABC Family's Baby Daddy...and we asked the ladies if the rest of the cast were distracting.
They said yes.
I literally stood on tippy toes - in heels, as it was - and I was still a good foot shorter than Derek Thaler.
Dude.
He is super tall. And incredibly nice too!
Like I said, come for the eye candy, stay for the laughs!
And Baby Daddy is full of them - laughs, that is! The show is really funny and the cast has great on-screen chemistry together.
Much like I mentioned in my post about visiting the set of Melissa and Joey, there was an amazing amount of detail on the set of Baby Daddy! As the show was being filmed, I wasn't able to explore most of the set - we mainly stayed in the living room and the kitchen for just a moment - but the set was so full of tiny things that add up to create a believable environment!
There were real photos of the cast members on the fridge, real food in the cabinets - there were even little stains on the dish towel in the kitchen!
I ALMOST FORGOT.
Not really, I was just saving the best for last...we had an unexpected visitor right before we left...Eddie Cibrian!
