    Visiting new places near and far, taking in different cultures, trying new cuisines; there are so many options available to every interest when it comes to traveling.

    You see, traveling is not just for the young or the old; the opportunities to travel have become so easy and varied that there are no longer the restrictions that may have affected some people before. Now almost everyone can afford to travel - whether it be an international trip or a mere weekend getaway in a nearby city.

    2.29 billion Americans travelled within the United States in 2020-21. In a country so large and diverse, trips to new states can provide perfect getaway options. US Citizens also takes around 93 million international flights per year, adding to the amount of long-distance travel being enjoyed, with the majority heading towards Europe or the Caribbean.

    It was reported by the Condor Ferries group that each year 35% of American families plan vacations 50 miles or more from their homes; with 22% of American vacations taken are via road trips.

    All this time on the road, or in the air, can be hard to fill. We don’t enjoy sitting staring out the window for too long. When traveling with kids, it is especially important to plan how you are going to fill our your time spent in the car.

    As much as we enjoy our vacation getaways, we often feel the journey to get there is too long. Below are some ideas for games to play while traveling that will keep everyone entertained for hours. 

    How to Play Dobble on  family Road Trip

    A kid friendly card game which is great for adults to play together as well. Dobble is a great one for all when travelling and is like an extreme version of snap! Each card has 8 pictures on it and each with one symbol in common with every other card. Everyone goes at the same time and looks to spot the matching symbols.

    Depending on the form of the game you play means you collect or pass cards on when you spot the pairs. 

    Up to eight players can play, but it is even good with just two. It is faced paced, exciting and snatchy, great for the competitive families and friends. Easy to understand and quick to set up, Dobble provides a great amount of entertainment on long road trips.

    A classic and one which needs no equipment. You can start the game and play anywhere and at any time! This simple game is especially good for young children during family travels, because it gives them something to keep them occupied!

    The game can go on and on till, usually a parent, has had enough; but always is come back to especially on long road trips. By stating the first letter of something you can see, everyone else has to try and guess what you have seen.

    You can make your own rules up on how the game is played, with your own unique variations like only things outside or not the same thing twice.

    Play NFL Fantasy Football to pass the time

    Fantasy sports have become huge business in the US and across the world. There are millions of people playing across a wide range of countries every year. NFL fantasy football is an incredibly popular game, one that can be competed between friends as well as through providers like DraftKings.

    With time to focus, players can identify the key stats and predictions for their players in the coming game week. Plan out who your starting players will be depending on who they are up against.

    You can go through free agency and see which players are available to add to your roster as well as propose trades amongst players in your league. Having the time to go through your squad and the future game weeks your players face will help you prepare for your matchups and be in a strong place to compete for top spot in your league.

    How to Play the License Plate Game on a Road Trip

    Another which only requires your imagination. The rules are flexible once again and you can personalize the game or have specific categories to play. As you see the letter on a car license plate, everyone else must come up with a meaning for them. For example, AYA 157 could be All Your Animals. 

    You can also try to spot the most plates from different states as well and see who scores the most throughout the journey, keeping a log of which ones you’ve spotted.

    Here we once again need no equipment, saving the space in the bags for the essentials instead. You can vary the game how you please, but the key rules apply; one player picks a person, place or thing depending on your rules and all others have 20 questions to try to identify what/who the person is thinking of.

    They are only allowed to reply with yes or no answers as well. There are so many ways to pass the time, and the key thing is to enjoy the time you have together. 

    All these games and many more are perfect for family trips and well as vacations with friends and can be played at all ages to while away that time till you arrive.
