    New Mexico, in Snapshots

Published: Mar 31, 2012 · Modified: Jul 29, 2012 by Jennifer · This post may contain affiliate links · 4 Comments

Last week, my husband and I had to make a spur-of-the-moment trip out to New Mexico for the funeral of a loved one.

While we were there, I snapped a few photos, using my Hipstamatic app for the iPhone 4S, ran a few through the Instagram app and some were just plain old iPhone photos.

My father in law is a retired mechanic.

This classic was sitting in his yard - I don't think it runs, but it sure does make for a lovely photo!

They might not have a lot of foliage in New Mexico...but what they lack in grass, they make up for in cacti!

My brother in law cheesing it up with my in-laws pet, Bam-Bam.

My in-laws eldest dog, Reina, is missing a few teeth.

Her tongue is always hanging like that! I'd feel sorry for her if it weren't so dang cute!

Driving through the Sandia Mountain Crest, on our way to Albuquerque. I love this photo of the Sandia Mountains!

On our last full day in New Mexico, we visited a few wineries. I'll be writing more about them later on next week.

My mother in law and sister in law - this was the first opportunity I've had to spend time with my sister in law in the 11 years since I've been with my husband! While the circumstances of our visit weren't happy ones, it was nice to get to know her!

One thing I can say for New Mexico is that the road seems to stretch on for miles...because it does! It's funny to be in such a flat place and be able to see the mountains ahead of you. This is another photo of the Sandia Mountains between Edgewood and Albuquerque. They look so small from far away, but they really aren't!

In Florida, it's flat too, but there are so many buildings that you can't see what's on the horizon.

It was nice to be able to see where we were going.

OH wow, these are some gorgeous photos! I would love to live where it's so flat that you can see the mountains like that everyday!

I'm sorry for your family's loss--like you said, it's a shame your visit wasn't under better circumstances. These are all such beautiful photos, but I'm so surprised to see that there are wineries in New Mexico!

Sorry to hear about losing a loved one.
I live in New Mexico and we took our son to Florida this summer to start college. I live living in Albuquerque, NM but Florida is great and I would love to move there. My son is living in Winter Park. I really enjoyed Florida.
