Life Is A Balancing Act: How To Get It Right

Published: Apr 30, 2019 · Modified: Aug 19, 2023 by Jennifer · This post may contain affiliate links · Leave a Comment

Getting the right balance in work, home life, family life, etc. is always going to be different for everyone. Everyone has different priorities, different responsibilities and what works for some people does not necessarily work for others, and one person’s idea of balance may not constitute anything remotely balanced to someone else’s.

The only way to get your balance right is to find out what works for you. So, what does it mean to be balanced? For many people, it generally means that you are on top of all the different elements in your life and you don’t feel that you are being pulled too hard in one direction over another.

Usually, being balanced means that you feel calm, grounded, clear-headed, and motivated.

Finding a balance for most usually means an equal focus on external things, like work, relationships, and activities, as well as paying attention to what is going on inside your heart and mind. It can be tricky to find this balance and find yourself focusing on one over the other. So if you’re feeling pulled in one direction over the other then have a look at these tips:

    Acknowledge

Take a step back and have a look at your life, your state of mind, and how you’re feeling. Try to look at it objectively, as if from an outsiders point of view and be honest with yourself, and you should see the areas of your life that you’re neglecting.

    Examine

If you are leaning more toward an internal or external focus, decide which areas within each category that you would like to be more balanced.

    Set Goals

Write down the things that you want to change and where you want more focus.

    Make Lists

Make a list of daily, weekly, and monthly tasks that can help you to achieve each of these goals.

    Reflect

What is the most important thing you have accomplished in the past? How did you stay focused on this goal? You must have had fears, doubts, anxieties, worries, and negative self-talk then, so how did you handle it then? What worked for you? How does it feel to know that you accomplished the goal in spite of these parts of yourself?

    Ask For Help

Don’t be afraid to reach out to people, if there is a person or a tactic you can use to keep yourself supported, motivated, and focused then make use of them.

    Plan

Just like when trying to accomplish any goal in life, it doesn’t happen overnight but takes time and effort to overcome your habits and make new ones. Nothing will change if you don’t change, so you need to plan ahead to ensure that you get a more balanced life going forward!

Make The Most Of The Tools Available

You should make the most of the society we live in and the way it has made it easier to manage our lives. Through technology and you could study for an online bachelors degree in organisational leadership, you can tell Alexa your shopping list, and you can manage all your finances without having to step foot into a bank. It has never been easier to balance. However, you’ve probably never had so many things to balance. So, take a breathe and look at all the possibilities and the easiest and most efficient ways to do things.
