How to Record Quality Voiceovers While Travelling

Published: Aug 19, 2020 · Modified: Aug 19, 2020 by Jennifer · This post may contain affiliate links · Leave a Comment

You can record voiceovers anywhere you are in the world, even without standard studio equipment. Many people often assume that since voiceovers require recording, then it is done in a studio all the time. Well, that is not entirely true. While we recommend recording your voiceovers with a standard studio set up, you can achieve quality recordings even with a DIY set up if you know what to do. And that is why we have written this article to help those who want to record quality voiceovers and find clients on voquent.com while on holiday.

How to Record Quality Voiceovers While Travelling

Here are important tips to follow:

    Travel with high-quality recording tools

This does not mean that you must travel with your expensive gear. There are travel versions of most recording equipment that offer similar quality at lower costs. High-quality equipment will reassure you of quality recordings. Never compromise on the quality of your recording tools, such as your microphone and headphones. Even if you have the best quality recording and editing software, there is little you can do to improve the sound quality if it’s being recorded with a bad microphone. Also, you need quality headphones to get accurate feedback from your recordings, and it will help when editing. You also need to travel with your microphone stand, a USB microphone interface, some extra cables, and adapters.

You can find high quality and affordable travel recording equipment on Amazon.

Record your voiceovers in a quiet place

Since you are away from a proper studio, recording in a quiet space is your best bet. Where this is a challenge, create your sound booth using your blanket and hotel pillows. Anywhere far from the highway, train station, airport, or busy streets will do. Many professional voiceover artists have recorded voiceovers in the most ridiculous places, and the result came out great. This can be your story if you can understand how sound works and what you can do to reduce reverberations. Quality voiceovers will give your career a boost.

    Be creative

Paying for a recording session in another country or city may be more expensive than you think. So, your best bet is to be creative when recording your voiceovers. If you are having problems with recording a clean sound, improvise by building a makeshift sound booth. A blanket can make a difference in the quality of your voiceover recording.

    Other considerations

If you are staying in a hostel or hotel, chose a top floor, and ensure that you record when the cleaners have made their rounds. These are important because you do not want distractions while recording.
