How To Pull off a Shotgun Wedding Without Vegas

Published: May 2, 2022 · Modified: Dec 15, 2023 by Jennifer · This post may contain affiliate links · Leave a Comment

You probably have heard of shotgun weddings, but maybe you do not know what they are. A shotgun wedding is when you get married after conceiving a baby out of wedlock and is a common trope from the past as depicted in television shows often for comic relief.

While shotgun weddings are considered a thing of the past, it doesn't mean that it's all forgotten. Shotgun weddings are still popular. In fact, couples still travel worldwide to the gun store in Las Vegas to celebrate their shotgun weddings by shooting a firearm of their choice after exchanging their wedding vows.

Las Vegas is a preferred destination for shotgun weddings because it offers all you need to run a wedding. From paperwork and venue to a couple of guns. Everyone wants to go to Vegas. But the world has other great destinations to pull off a shotgun wedding.

    Bahamas

If you've been reading about destination weddings, you'll agree that there is no better place to get married on a beach than in the Bahamas. The pristine sandy shores, legendary sunsets, and stunning Atlantic waves make it prettier than any beach location you'd choose.

Feel like you can't handle the hassle of organizing a large-scale wedding at home? Why not have your suitcase and head off to get hitched in the Bahamas? The great news is that you can tie the note after a day of being a resident.

Having friendly dolphins as your witnesses sounds like something you wouldn't mind experiencing. Spice it up with a ferry ride to Blue Lagoon Island from Nassau, or Paradise Island.

The good thing about having a wedding in the Bahamas is enjoying your honeymoon immediately. You don't have to worry about additional expenses on a second trip. Simply plan to stay for additional days basking in the sun with your special someone.

    Maasai Mara, Kenya

Maasai Mara will give you a dream wedding in Africa. With endless views and a dramatic sky, Maasai Mara lodges offer the most beautiful wedding backdrop that you'll love. You'll also enjoy breathtaking views surrounded by unspoiled nature, a combo that makes a romantic setting to begin your beautiful journey as a couple.

Maasai Mara also offers you a variety of ways to spend your time before, during, and after the ceremony. Spare some days to explore the Mara landscape and discover beautiful animals such as wild beasts, zebras, big cats, and gazelles that ball Mara home.

Settle in spacious tented suites upon arrival and once the celebration is done, set off on a safari to enjoy a taste of the beautiful adventure that awaits you.

    Iglu Dorf, Switzerland

There is no doubt that Switzerland is one of the most beautiful wedding destinations. From the picturesque landscapes of mountains, castles, and lakes to spectacular panoramas, Switzerland offers a range of luxurious wedding spots fully equipped with all you need to succeed on your big day.

Switzerland Iglu Dorf in Gstaad features top-tier coolness for a shotgun wedding. Choosing Switzerland as your preferred wedding destination will mean enjoying sheepskin rugs, steamy saunas, thermal mattresses, mulled wine, and a private whirlpool bath that will help keep your romance steamy.

    Slovenia

Slovenia doesn't disappoint as a wedding destination. Slovenia reflects the natural beauty and diverse landscape that gives you the most stunning wedding backdrop for your big day.

Slovenia might not be a top wedding destination for most couples. However, if you plan to have a shotgun wedding in Europe, then Slovenia should be on top of your list. The beautiful wedding locations, like the beautiful resorts of Lake Bled, are enough reasons to change your mind.

You can choose to marry in Lake Bled in the town hall, then sum it up with a Pletna boat trip to the island ring. The Bled Castle in Slovenia will give you something less grand and will stay in your memories forever.

What Makes a Shotgun Wedding Successful

When planning a shotgun wedding, be flexible with the date to open up more options for venues. Pick on a venue that is a one-stop-shop. While it is recommended that you order your wedding dress at least six months before your wedding, that doesn't mean you can't find something for yourself within a short time.

Work with a local printer to put off invitations quickly. Try digital options for custom bridal shower invitations to help you get the word out quickly and in style.
