How to Host An Outdoor Marketing Event For Your Business

Published: Jun 19, 2019 · Modified: May 26, 2021 by Jennifer · This post may contain affiliate links · Leave a Comment

The outdoors can be a wonderful place to market your business. The spring and summer months, especially, are the best climates for outdoor events as people are already outdoors enjoying the nice climate. Marketing events outside have several advantages to them that can help build your business and drive more potential clients to your business. They have the potential to get your business in the face of people who never would have seen your business otherwise. They catch the eyes of people just passing by, and they allow you and your employees to get out into the community and meet people face to face, which is a personal touch that no business wants to turn away. These outdoor marketing events can be a big deal, but just like any other marketing tactic, you have to know how to get the most value out of the event so you can get the maximum return. You are going to need some event marketing tips to make this outdoor event a success.

1.) Make your brand stand out

If you are outdoors where people are walking by your business, you don’t want them to walk by and forget what they have seen immediately. In order to stick in their minds and make an impression, you have to invest in your business with both time and money and make your brand stand out as much as you can. You don’t want it to be bold in a tacky way, but you want to be as straightforward as possible so that your brand can be seen from a distance and leave a mark in people’s brains so they think of you next time they need your services. The same concept applies if you are starting a franchise, so be mindful of the way your brand appears and promote, but don’t overpromote.

2.) Announce the event in advance

The success of your event depends on how many people come out to your event, and that all depends on how well you promote it before the event actually happens. You should start promoting the event as far as a month or two in advance, and with every chance you get, so that as many people as possible have a chance to hear about it and will come out to see and get engaged with your business, and your return will be much larger. Use things such as social media channels, newsletters in both physical and e-mail forms, and remind people in person as much as you can.

    3.) Utilize social media

If this is an event for your own business, you should do marketing tactics like creating a unique hashtag for people to use. Be as active as possible on all of your social media outlets for the weeks and even months ahead of the event and regularly post about and remind your followers, and others on your feed that a big event is coming up and they need to come out and support it. Then, during the actual event have people post updates about what is going on at the event so that it encourages more people to turn out and come join the fun. This also shows that you are committed to the event, excited about it yourself, and it keeps you involved and connected to the community that you are trying to reach.

    4.) Think through future follow-ups

You will find out how valuable your event was to the community after it is over and done with. It will tell you how much of an impact you made, and how many people were engaged with your brand. Do this by finding a way to follow-up with people who come by. You can collect business cards, set out a sign-up email list so they get exclusive offers, get them to follow you on social media so you can reach out to them, anything that will give you a chance to follow up is important and vital to keeping their interest and gaining new customers.

Now that you have ideas of how to market at your event, you should also have ideas of what types of outdoor marketing events are popular and will bring people to your business. You could go with an outdoor festival, a show, or gathering for the community, You could host outdoor educational and workshop events which will give potential customers a chance to experience something new, or even do an outdoor open house so that you can attract more foot traffic! All of these are valuable methods of getting more customers to your business and build your brand!
