How To Find Your Wedding Style

Published: Jan 18, 2025 by Jennifer · This post may contain affiliate links · Leave a Comment

There are all kinds of reasons why planning a wedding can feel overwhelming, but one of them is that those who are doing the organizing don’t quite know what it is they want. And because there are so many options, if you’re not sure what your wedding style actually is, it’s going to be a bit much - too much. But with so many styles and individual things to choose from, how can you work out what’s for you?

Relax - it’s not as overwhelming as it might seem, and the fact is that finding your wedding style is all about discovering what makes you and your partner feel happy, comfortable, and in love. With that in mind, here are some ways to find your wedding style so you can plan in peace - read on to find out more.

Take Inspiration From Your Everyday Life

Your wedding style doesn’t have to come from a magazine or website - it can come from the things you already love (and in fact, that’s probably the best way to at least get started when it comes to planning). So why not think about your home decor, the clothes you like to wear, or the places you go together, and that can all help to create a final look.

Also, what is it you’re naturally drawn to? Is it minimalism or lots of bright, bold colors and accessories, for example? Whatever it is, that’s got to be included in your wedding design because it’s what you love and it’s what makes you comfortable, and those are both very important elements.

    Consider Your Ideal Setting

Your wedding style and the venue you pick go hand in hand because a glamorous ballroom or big castle will give you an entirely different theme and feel to a rustic barn or perhaps even a beach wedding - that’s why it’s so important to pick your wedding venue wisely because it’s the big thing everyone is going to notice, and it basically sets the tone for everything else.

Start by thinking about what type of place you’d feel most comfortable in, and once you’ve got that picture in mind, you’ll be able to narrow down your potential venues until you come up with a shortlist that will work for you, taking the exact location, the facilities, the cost, and the number of people it can handle into account as well. Doing it that way round makes it all a lot easier, and once the venue is secure, you can organize everything else.

    Mix And Match

Who says you have to stick to one theme for your wedding? No one, that’s who. If you love a modern design but your partner is all about the vintage look, why compromise? Your marriage will be full of compromises on both sides, but your wedding… well, that can be everything you want if you plan things out well.

By blending a few different themes, you don’t just get exactly what you want, but you’ll also be able to make your wedding as unique as you are as a couple, and that’s going to stick in people’s minds for a long time to come - for positive reasons.
