What's your style? If your answer is 'I don't know!', then it's time to take control and figure out How to Find Your Personal Style. Our style gives us the opportunity to express who we are to the world. So, if you don't feel like your clothes are currently doing this, it's time to reinvent yourself.

'But how do I do that?' we hear you ask. Well, here is our guide to how to find your personal style.

Get rid of what you don’t love

Whenever you wear an item of clothing, it should fill you with happiness and confidence. That's what fashion is all about. So, if you take a peek at your wardrobe and find a bunch of skirts, pants and dresses that scream 'meh', it's time to get rid of them.

Like it or not, these drab pieces are holding you back. Therefore, you should make a conscious effort to free up space by only keeping specific pieces you absolutely love.

This can be a confronting process, especially if some clothing items are linked to fond memories. But if they no longer have the sparkle they once had, you should either sell them via Facebook Marketplace, donate to charity, recycle or repurpose them, or, as a last resort, throw them out.

    Audit what you have

Having decluttered, your wardrobe will look a bit bare. However, it will contain clothes you absolutely love, which is a great base from which to work.

    shopping in boutiques

To make yourself aware of this, it's worth doing a quick audit of what item of clothing you have left and what you need moving forward. Doing this will reveal to you what type of clothes you like wearing the most, and therefore make it easier to develop a style around them.

    Don’t forget the accessories

Finding your personal style isn’t just about the clothes you wear. It is also about what accessories you choose to pair them with. Accessories have the power to completely transform a look from dull and drab to something quite voguish.

If you're looking to add a touch of sophistication, consider leather Apple watch bands that can seamlessly blend with both casual and formal outfits, adding a timeless element to your style.

They take the form of everything from jewelry and shoes to hats and your glasses and sunglasses. So, just like with the clothing, make sure you do some detailed research when shopping for glasses online to find some brands and items you’ll love.

    Search for inspiration

Of course, knowing what you need and finding it are two different things. So, once you have audited your wardrobe, the next stage is to find inspiration as to the kind of clothing items you would like to wear.

One of the easiest ways to do this is to spend a few hours 'researching'. In other words, checking out your socials to see what the celebrities and influencers are wearing. If you find something, make a note of what it is via a Pinterest mood board.

7 Must-Have Fashion Accessories for Summer

    Explore timeless pieces

In the process of refining your style, focus on incorporating timeless pieces that never go out of fashion. Denim, for example, is a classic staple that fits seamlessly into various styles.

A good starting point is to browse through the range of Nudie Jeans available at Maple Store. Nudie Jeans offer a great variety of cuts and washes that can fit into almost any wardrobe. These durable and stylish jeans can be the cornerstone of many outfits, providing a versatile and enduring element to your collection.

    Make your first purchase

Having done all this research, you should have a much clearer idea of what your actual style is. If you have, then you can start making purchases to further define it.

Refer back to your Pinterest mood board or the brick-and-mortar shop where you saw the item you liked the most to purchase it. Doing this should give you an instant feel-good factor that should spur you on to make further additions to your wardrobe based on what you need and your wish list.

    Make regular additions

Unless you are feeling ultra-inspired and have a clear understanding of the style you are trying to achieve, it is worth making regular additions to your wardrobe rather than going on one big shopping spree.

    6 Tips for Timeless Style

Whatever you buy, make sure you focus on quality, not necessarily affordability. It is better to spend more on a quality, well-made garment you absolutely love that will stand the test of time than fork out for something cheaper that will eventually fade or otherwise damage.

Additionally, be mindful of buying different clothes for summer and winter to ensure you can draw upon a year-round wardrobe.

    Confidently wear it

Last, but perhaps most importantly, you need to have the grace and confidence to wear any item of clothing you buy. Having worked hard to define your new personal style, you need to make a conscious effort to parade it wherever you go.

At the end of the day, there is no point having clothes in your wardrobe that you never put on. So, trust your vision and your choices, and own what you have conceived as your new look.
