Survey Finds that Floridians Are More Afraid of Traffic Than Alligators

Published: Jul 2, 2024 · Modified: Jul 2, 2024 by Jennifer · This post may contain affiliate links · Leave a Comment

A new survey findings show that 80% of parents in South and Central Florida are opting for a family "staycation," "nearcation," or a day trip this summer. While 64% of parents are planning a family road trip lasting at least 5 hours, they do have some concerns. Gas prices today are seen as "insanity," "annoying," or "destructive" by most parents (64%), with 68% agreeing that Florida traffic is a nightmare that discourages summer travel.

Interestingly, 59% of parents would rather come across an alligator in their pool than get stuck in traffic during a family road trip. The frustration with Florida summer traffic even leads the average family to consider shelling out $530 just to make the cars ahead disappear during a long trip.

The survey revealed a shared belief among Floridians that choosing train travel could help avoid common challenges faced by parents on family road trips! Say goodbye to car arguments, frequent bathroom stops, wrong turns, and traffic gridlock. A whopping 71% think that holiday weekend traffic snarls could be dodged simply by hopping on a train!

Are you all set for some thrilling news? AAA is foreseeing record-breaking numbers of travelers nationwide gearing up to celebrate the July 4th holiday! In Florida, South Florida beaches are seeing more love than ever, with Orlando (#2) and Miami (#5) making it to the top 10 domestic destinations for travelers according to AAA booking data.
