Rocky Mountain High...And Rocky Mountain Sun Stroke.

    Acute Mountain Sickness.

    It's a real thing.

Fortunately, I'm traveling with friends who told me to drink lots of water while I became acclimated to the altitude, so I've been fine for the day and a half I've traipsed all over Colorado...

The funny thing is that while I didn't prepare for the altitude at all, I prepared for a myriad of other things, like the supposedly cold weather I would experience while in Colorado. Rocky Mountain high is right.

Normally, I pack light. I spend most of my traveling time in the Caribbean. Bikinis, sun dresses, floppy hats - those are usually the only things in my carry on.

When preparing for my trip to TBEX, the Travel Bloggers Exchange Conference, I did my homework and looked up the weather forecast for Keystone, and found that it would be in the 70s during the day and 40s at night.

    I packed accordingly.

Three pairs of boots, jeans, long sleeved shirts, a down jacket, scarves...

Because my stupid ass didn't think to see how far Keystone was from Denver, or to see what the weather would actually be like IN DENVER - where we are spending 4 of our 7 days in Colorado.

Guess what? IT IS HOT IN DENVER.

As in, it's hotter in Denver right now than it is in Miami.

I am a hot, sweaty mess.

But at least there's no humidity, so my hair looks awesome.

And I got to see this amazing view for over an hour today while we drove from Breckenridge to Denver.

    Rocky Mountain high, breckenridge colorado

Altitude sickness is real! I drank water like CRAZY when in Utah last year, but I still fought dizziness a lot. It's beautiful out there though!

Nooooo -- please tell me it's warmer than that! I have my jacket in the car but just don't want to believe it. Yes, Denver is hot and sunny lol. See you soon!

I never got altitude sickness when I was there but I always felt so weird going up and down our hotel elevator. I love Denver though. Such a beautiful place. Glad your hair looks awesome!

That is a gorgeous view! Too bad that you didn't pack right hahaha. And surprising that it's hotter in Denver than Miami! Sounds like you are having a blast!

I guess better to be all bundled up with good hair than a mess in a sundress! 😉 Just kidding! Take care of yourself !

Ug, I got to experience high altitude sickness once when skiing in college and I had not idea what was wrong with me - I was 18 and pretty dumb, lol. Sorry you had to deal with this on your trip but I'm glad your hair rocked.
