Why I love the DoubleTree by Hilton Ocean Point Resort and Spa

At the DoubleTree by Hilton Ocean Point Resort and Spa in Sunny Isles Beach, every little thing they do is inspired by the desire to create a rewarding experience for their guests. This is evident the moment you walk into the lobby, where you're promptly greeted with a warm smile and equally warm and delicious cookie.

With a collection of upscale hotels across five continents, the hospitality found at DoubleTree by Hilton is a global experience that begins with that famous chocolate chip cookie upon arrival and continues with an array of fine services and amenities and a CARE Culture tradition.

Chris, Angeline and I headed to the DoubleTree by Hilton Ocean Point Resort and Spa in Sunny Isles Beach this weekend for a little staycation, as Angeline will be spending this Spring Break with her grandparents and cousins.

What better way to spend a little quality family time together than to go away to the beach for a weekend?

We packed an overnight bag, left the laptops at home, and headed out for a fun night with just the three of us. We did, however, bring the iPads and my Acer tablet - we're such a techie family that the only books we have are in our Kindle apps!

What makes DoubleTree by Hilton so special?

The DoubleTree by Hilton has over 325 locations across 26 countries. Their unique properties include Dublin, Ireland) Surin Beach, Thailand, Emporda, Spain, Istanbul, Turkey and Fujian Province, China.

I've stayed at the DoubleTree in Breckenridge, so I had a little idea of what to expect when we arrived, but for the most part, I was ready to be surprised.

That's Angeline hiding behind me...you know how teenagers are - its's sooo uncool to take photos with mom and dad!

What is the DoubleTree by Hilton CARE Culture & Service?

DoubleTree by Hilton has built a reputation by paying special attention to each customer. The DoubleTree by Hilton motto is that the little things mean everything.

As most experienced travelers know, this is 100% true. Through small acts of kindness, such as their signature warm chocolate chip cookie welcome and their unprecedented CARE service culture, DoubleTree by Hilton aims to make the traveler feel human again.

The DoubleTree by Hilton chocolate chip cookie is a unique symbol that celebrates the brand's culture of CARE and has been synonymous with DoubleTree by Hilton hospitality since 1986.

I'll let you in on a little secret: while we travel often as a family, all family members aren't always 100% on board when we arrive at a destination. The night before we left for the DoubleTree by Hilton Ocean Point Resort and Spa, Angeline spent the night at her friend's house - a teenage sleepover always means one thing: no sleeping.

After not sleeping much the night before, and attending my nephew's 5th birthday party prior to arriving at the hotel, she was super cranky. As soon as we walked in and were given warm, delicious cookies...well, let's just say that changed her attitude.

It's amazing what a difference a small act of kindness makes, isn't it?

    Hilton HHonors Rewards Program Features

Hilton HHonors members earn hotel points and airline miles for qualifying stays and can redeem points for free nights at all DoubleTree by Hilton hotels. Chris is a Diamond level Hilton HHonors member, and we love the program - and the perks - so much that we try to book all of our hotel stays within the Hilton family of properties.

Some of the perks we have enjoyed are free upgrades, free in-room wifi, free continental breakfasts, free appetizers during happy hour and access to the Executive Lounge. Those little perks really add up in the grand scheme of things!

Right now, when you connect your Hilton HHonors account to TopGuest.com/Hilton, you can even earn an 50 points every time you check into a Hilton property on Foursquare!

Another fun perk of the Hilton HHonors program is that DoubleTree by Hilton is awarding 1,000 Hilton HHonors Bonus Points for hotel stays in April or May! Hilton HHonors members can enter their information here to receive a 1,000 point credit within 4-8 weeks.

Our Stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Ocean Point Resort and Spa

When we arrived at our room, I was pleasantly surprised! We were upgraded to a suite, with two bedrooms and a spacious balcony overlooking the beach.

We had a full kitchen, dining room and living room as well - perfect for spending time together unwinding as a family before heading out to enjoy all that Sunny Isles Beach has to offer!

DoubleTree by Hilton Ocean Point Resort and Spa #DTSpringBreak

Now, I know that many families eschew the television while on vacation, but we aren't one of them. So we were happy to see that there was a flat screen television in the living room - and both of the bedrooms too!

The main room was pretty big, and the couch was nice and comfy too!

You know how sometimes when you get to your hotel room, you can't find enough electrical outlets for your electronic devices, and have to start unplugging lamps? Our room had plenty of outlets - the lamps even had extra outlets on them!

We went to check out our bedrooms and loved them just as much! Everything about the DoubleTree by Hilton Ocean Point Resort and Spa was upscale, modern and fresh.

DoubleTree by Hilton Ocean Point Resort and Spa #DTSpringBreak

One of my favorite parts of checking out a new hotel is testing the mattress. Angeline is the same way; as soon as we get into a room, she plops down and sees how comfy the mattresses are. The signature Sweet Dreams by DoubleTree "Sleep Experience" offers a custom-designed mattress, lots of plush pillows and luxurious linens. Angeline seriously didn't want to get out of bed to go down to the beach with us!

That mattress? It was HEAVENLY. The pillows were just as nice. This is one of those hotel beds that makes you strip the sheets off in the morning to look for the brand seal, so that you can go home and try to see if you can afford to buy one for yourself!

Angeline's room had two double beds, nightstand and a flat screen TV (equipped with cable and OnDemand movie channels too), along with her own bathroom and closet.

Our bedroom was more spacious, with a king sized bed, nightstands, dresser, sitting area, flat screen TV, a huge bathroom and huge closet too! Whereas Angeline's room had one sliding glass door leading to the balcony, we had two separate doors leading outside. It was so nice for us all to be able to see the ocean from our beds!

DoubleTree by Hilton Ocean Point Resort and Spa #DTSpringBreak

Each bathroom in our suite was stocked with Citron body care products by Crabtree & Evelyn, which is standard for all guest rooms at DoubleTree by Hilton hotels.

I love not having to worry about bringing toiletries with me when traveling. Especially for a short weekend stay, it is even nicer to just grab your clothes and go!

The Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries are high quality, maybe even nicer than what you have at home! I always take the little body lotion with me to carry in my purse, it's so rich and moisturizing!

DoubleTree by Hilton Ocean Point Resort and Spa #DTSpringBreak

Before we headed home on Sunday morning we headed down to the restaurant to have breakfast. The DoubleTree by Hilton breakfast was delicious!

They offer a buffet of healthy and hearty food selections, like scrambled eggs, pancakes and waffles, an omelet station, lots of fresh fruits, yogurts - or you can order from their menu for specialty items!

Since I am dieting, I skipped the omelet station and headed straight for the fresh fruit and eggs. Coupled with fresh orange juice, it was the perfect way to begin my day!

DoubleTree by Hilton Ocean Point Resort and Spa #DTSpringBreak

We had a fabulous time at the DoubleTree by Hilton Ocean Point Resort & Spa in Sunny Isles Beach!

The hotel is located right on the beach, and has a gorgeous pool area, complete with a wet bar, and chairs and umbrellas are easily accessible right there on the beach.

DoubleTree by Hilton Ocean Point Resort and Spa #DTSpringBreak

What a wonderful place to spend a vacation; between the full kitchen, plenty of living space in your hotel room, a restaurant and bar on site, as well as a pool and easy beach access, you have everything you need right there at your hotel. While there are plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance from the hotel, you really don't need to leave for anything!

If you are traveling with your family during Spring Break, I can't recommend DoubleTree hotels enough!

Connect with DoubleTree on social media onย Facebook / Twitter / YouTube / Pinterestย to stay up to date on all of their special promotions!

I received a complimentary night's stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Ocean Point Resort & Spa in exchange for my honest review in conjunction with The Motherhood. All opinions are my own.

Yeah, that place was WAY nicer than the Hilton's that I'm used to staying in. Too bad the company wouldn't spring for something like that while I was traveling.
