Does the Tria Laser Hair Removal Work?

Published: Oct 11, 2012 · Modified: Oct 2, 2023 by Jennifer · This post may contain affiliate links · 34 Comments

I know a lot of people are wondering about the review unit I received a few weeks ago. People are already emailing me asking "does the Tria Laser Hair Removal work?" Guess what? It has worked very well for me so far!

As many of my regular readers may recall, I have had laser hair removal in the past. With about 12 sessions over a course of four years, I had most of my body hair removed. The only reason it took so long before the Tria Laser Hair Removal...was because I was super hairy.

Does the Tria Hair Removal Laser Work for at home hair removal? It Does For Me!

I struggled with very thick and course hair on my legs beginning in elementary school, when the boys would make fun of me - even my own dad teased me at home about having hairy chicken legs (thanks for that boost of self confidence, dad).

I was finally allowed to begin shaving when I was about 13, but I found that shaving really wasn't all that I thought it would be.

My leg hair was so thick and course that I always got razor burn. every. single. time. My hair was so black that you could still see the black dots underneath my skin, even if I had just shaven my legs.

Within 24 hours, my hair would regrow and I would be back to wearing pants, because my skin was so sensitive that I would have to wait for my hair to fully regrow before shaving again - or the razor burn would be unbearable.

I dealt with this for all of my teens and my 20's. My poor husband - he never knew what it felt like to touch my legs and not feel bristles. Sure, he understood, because he saw firsthand how horrible my legs looked after shaving, but it bothered him a little, I am sure.

I experimented with all sorts of hair removing techniques: Nads, wax strips, hot wax, Nair, Veet, etc, etc. If it said "hair removal" I tried it - more than once.

Does the Tria Laser Really Work for at home Hair Removal?

When I began my laser hair removal treatments, my life changed after the very first treatment. So you can imagine how disappointed I was that I can not go back and get my biannual touch ups, like my original contract promised. Now that I have a Tria Hair Removal Laser at home?

    I am in heaven.

Half of the hair had regrown on my underarms and I am already seeing a little bit shed from the at-home treatments I've been giving myself using the Tria Hair Removal Laser! I have to admit, I was skeptical and even did Google searches for "does the Tria Hair Removal Laser really work" before I asked them for a review unit! But it is working for me!!

So, I know pretty much all there is to know about hair removal technology because I learned about during my treatments a few years ago. I realize that most people aren't aware, so I wanted to share just how it all works!

The Tria Hair Removal Laser targets each hair and disables the follicle. The Tria Hair Removal Laser is FDA-cleared, so you can feel confident that it is safe to use as directed. The laser releases light (at the same wavelength and efficacy used by dermatologists), which is absorbed by the dark pigment in the hair itself as heat. As the heat builds up, the follicle is disabled, which prevents hair from growing back.

Does the Tria Hair Removal Laser Really Work ? It Does For Me!

How my laser hair removal technician explained it to me during my first treatment was that the laser was scarring the follicle so that once the hair fell out, no hair would regrow. Sweet!

A couple of weeks after treatment, you'll notice the presence of what seems like new hair. Many people think hair is growing back, when in fact, the hair is moving out of the skin and falling out. Now, your hair grows in cycles - you can have as many as up to eight cycles of hair growth. So you need multiple treatments before your body is hair-free.

I saw a difference in my underarms (the only area I have treated so far with the Tria Hair Removal Laser) in after one treatment. After the second treatment, I saw a difference as well but since there wasn't that much hair left, it wasn't as noticeable as after the first one.

How to use the Tria Hair Removal Laser:

Using the Tria Hair Removal Laser device correctly is essential to removing your hair. You just turn on the device, unlock it using the skin sensor, select from one of five comfort settings, and place the laser tip on your skin. After the Tria Hair Removal Laser beeps, lift it off your skin and place it back down on your skin about ¼ inch away, so that it overlaps the previously treated spot. Continue until you have covered the area you want to treat.

I personally recommend putting a hand towel in a sink filled with ice water and immediately laying it on the skin you've treated once you finish an area. This takes all of the heat out of your skin and you will feel absolutely fine within seconds. My laser hair removal technician taught me this trick, but many people don't know about it!

What does the Tria Laser for Hair Removal feel like?

The sensation varies person to person and the area being treated. For me, it feels like a rubber band is being snapped against my skin. Some say that they feel a prickling sensation. It depends on each person and again, the area being treated. My underarms? Fine. My intimate bikini area? O M G It hurts so much!!

It also depends on the setting you use. Lower comfort settings hurt less than the higher settings. Work your way up if you have a low pain threshold.

How long does a Tria Hair Removal Laser treatment take?

Your treatment time will vary depending on the size of the area you are treating. Smaller areas like your underarms or bikini area take a few minutes and larger areas, like legs, can take 20-30 minutes.

What you can expect with the Tria Hair Removal Laser:

After your first treatment, you might experience mild redness that quickly dissipates within 24 hours. After your second treatment, you can expect up to a 70% reduction in hair re-growth. After 2 or 3 months of treatment, your hair growth will appear lighter and the hair itself will be finer. Half of my hair growth is so fine that I don't even see it unless the light happens to catch it! You'll start seeing a visible reduction in the amount of re-growth, especially in areas where hair growth tends to be dense.

After 6 months of treatment, your hair follicles that have been deactivated by the Tria Hair Removal Laser will have a permanent reduction in hair re-growth. Simply continue to use the Tria Hair Removal Laser until your skin is smooth!

Does the Tria Hair Removal Laser really work?

Honestly? Laser Hair Removal Machines work for me. I strongly urge you to check out the Is it right for me? tab on the Tria Beauty website.

One of the best things about this Tria Hair Removal Laser?

YOU GET TO KEEP IT. It is yours!

I paid $2500 for my laser hair removal a few years ago, and I am on my own with regrowth. The Tria Hair Removal Laser is on special for $395 right now - and you get to keep it and use it for touch ups forever!

The Tria Hair Removal Laser is so much more affordable than going to a local salon for treatments!

Laser hair removal honestly changed my life once I had it done, and I am so happy knowing that I now have my own unit to continue using to maintain what that huge investment gave me a few years ago.

I received a Tria Hair Removal Laser at no charge in exchange for sharing my findings. All opinions are my own - as you can surely surmise from my review!

I have had a Tria since Sept. 2011 and have been using it as recommended since then. I must say that I have seen results but you must be consistent and must allot more time than they recommend. It's been 13 months and while some hair is gone completely there are still patches I am having to laser 1x a month on my legs, bikini and armpit areas. I plan to continue since I have seen am improvement and look forward to my hairless days.

I am so going to invest in one of these! Removing hair for good sounds a little too good to be true but obviously not! Does it work straight away or do you have to do it a couple of times?

I don't know about Tria hair removal laser, but I have used candela laser hair removal machine and I would say that it is really a very good machine. I got a very good result from candela machine and it is also very safe.

Tria does not work forever. Tria only allows 300 recharges. After 300 it wont turn on ever again.

Hey Jenn, thanks for this firsthand review. I've been doing waxing and tweezing for years and read from http://www.enhancementscosmeticsurgery.com/ouch-body-hair-removal-methods-avoid/ that it caused my dark chicken skin. I'm considering your hair removal laser to see for myself.

One thing to remember is that the Tria doesn't work for everyone though; the best candidates have lighter hair and darker skin. If it does work for you, it's a great alternative compared to expensive professional treatments.

    30. Nakta Hekmat says

      April 29, 2020 at 6:13 pm

Are you sure that the best candidates for Trio are those with lighter hair and darker skin? Where do you have that from?

    31. Jenn says

      April 30, 2020 at 12:56 pm

The research I did in 2008 before I got professional laser hair removal. I can't remember the articles I read, as that was twelve years ago. LOL You can google it.

I’m just confused as to the fact that in the article you talk about your husband never touching your legs without stubble. But then at the bottom of the article in the bio it says you’re a single woman

    33. Jenn says

      May 18, 2021 at 9:56 am

That is because I wrote this post before my husband divorced me. LOL

    34. Laura says

Darker hair and lighter skin. It won’t unlock or work unless the skin is lighter.
