Over the last few months I have been trying to make healthy changes not just within myself, but in my home! Take these 3 Ways to Be More Eco Friendly at Home as an example - these are 3 simple, inexpensive things that have helped me save money AND live a more eco-friendly life!

3 Ways to Be More Eco Friendly at Home

I think that it's safe to say that most of us have been spending A LOT of time at home in the past six months. We have become acquainted with parts of our homes that we never knew existed...nor cleaned. As a collective, we have filled the months during quarantine learning new hobbies, deep cleaning our homes, looking for work, cleaning our homes again, planting gardens, becoming houseplant hobbyists, renovating our homes, changing our lifestyles...if you are anything like me, you did this while trying to stick to a tight budget.

    Stop Buying Bottled Water

I recently made the decision to stop buying bottled waters. One day I was out, so I drank the water from my refrigerator filter, and you know what? I didn't taste the difference between that and Fiji, which I usually drink. Then I thought about how much money I've spent over the years on bottled waters and canned drinks...it's A LOT. The filter for my fridge costs about $45, and needs to be replaced every 3 months. I do still buy some sparkling waters, but I mainly drink water from the fridge now! I am saving lots of money on those sparkling waters and it is ZERO waste.

3 Ways to Be More Eco Friendly at Home

You can also buy a nice insulated tumbler to keep your water COLD, unlike with bottled waters. This is one of the easiest 3 Ways to Be More Eco Friendly at Home if you have a fridge with a water filter, and if not, get a water filter for your tap or a jug that filters water. It can be a small investment, but it is worth it!

Use Turbo Mops Pads on Your Swiffer Sweepers

As many of my longtime readers know, I was a Swiffer Ambassador for YEARS - and I do mean Y E A R S! I love Swiffer, and have ever since they came out with the first Swiffer Sweeper way back when I first moved into my own home. While I am a fan of Swiffer and still buy their products (they have since discontinued our blog ambassador program), one thing that has always been an issue with their products is...waste.

3 Ways to Be More Eco Friendly at Home

All of those disposable pads have to go somewhere, and it was always a topic of conversation both in my private conversations with people and as a blog ambassador with the brand. Well...for those who love their Swiffers but don't like the waste of throwing away the pads that ultimately wind up in landfills, I have something to show you today: reusable mop pads and resuable sweeper pads from Turbo Mops!

Turbo Mops makes reusable microfiber mop pads that are compatible with the Swiffer Sweeper & Wet Jet - yep, a different model for each corresponding Swiffer product.

3 Ways to Be More Eco Friendly at Home

Turbo Mops uses a unique microfiber looping technology that picks up all kinds of stuff, just like the original Swiffer pads, including pet hair and dirt!

With 3 dogs and 3 cats in our home, the pet hair part is incredibly important, because that's what makes up most of the "mess" in our home! They are reusable...yep, that means that no only will you avoid throwing a bunch of used pads into the trash - and ultimately landfills - but you can also SAVE MONEY. That is a win-win in my book!

What Are The Benefits of Using Turbo Mops Reusable Mop Refills?

Premium: Professional grade reusable mop refills compatible with Swifter Wet Jet mops & all 10 11 12 inch Velcro fastened microfiber mops. Soft scrub pads work on all types of floors including hard-wood, tile, laminate, linoleum, and vinyl. You can use the pads on any surface, going from kitchen to bedroom to bathroom, regardless of the flooring! I have wood laminate, tile and vinyl flooring throughout my house, so this is super handy!

3 Ways to Be More Eco Friendly at Home

Save Money: Disposable mop pads end up costing hundreds of dollars over the life of the mop. Our durable pads last longer and clean better while saving money with your power squirt mop. Bulk wholesale pricing with exclusive Black Friday discounts & Cyber Monday deals!

Extra Thick: Microfiber pads for better absorption when wet mopping and better dust dirt trapping when dry. Spray wash or pick up pet hair effectively!

3 Ways to Be More Eco Friendly at Home

Machine Washable Pads: Wash eco-friendly replacement pads for mops with towel laundry! Unique looped design is perfect for home, office, dorm, apartments, and schools!

Turbo Pads connect easily to mop heads. Pads compatible to tit Swiffer Wet Jet Spray mops and more! You can find out more about Turbo Mops at https://turbomops.com/!

Grow Your Own Herbs and Vegetables at Home

While I have become quiet adept at keeping houseplants, I have not quite mastered growing veggies and herbs yet. I attempted to grow carrots and tomatoes, along with a few different herbs, earlier this summer...they did not make it. Oops. BUT I have had tons of friends sharing their photos of their successful gardens that they all began during quarantine!

3 Ways to Be More Eco Friendly at Home

It can be done, just not by me! This will save you money on herbs - why is basil so expensive?! - as well as benefit the environment as there will be less trips to the store, less packaging to throw away, etc.

P.S. I wish I was one of those people that grew outrageous gardens, but alas, I did not. This is not a vegetable. This is a Scindapsus pictus, aka Silver Satin Pothos. Apparently I can grow these like weeds all over my house, but not a dang oregano plant.

3 Ways to Be More Eco Friendly at Home

All these little changes add up! Are you doing anything within your own home to become more eco-friendly?
