Way back when, during the 2020 "lockdown" - you know, that part of the COVID pandemic when we were all stuck inside our homes for a few months? - I started a new project. Well, truth be told, I began that project in 2015, but at that time, I didn't know how it would ultimately take shape!

It began with me getting into energy healing and wearing crystals in 2015, and resulted in my becoming a certified Reiki healer, and opening an eBay store selling metaphysical products by the middle of 2021.
I even went so far as to register as an LLC, design a logo and setting up a table a local farmer's market before I ended up taking a full time day job last summer and setting it all on the backburner for a while. I enjoyed the experience of working the farmer's market and knew that I would incorporate that into my business strategy going forward.
As I was laid off in 2022, I returned my attention to my lifestyle blog and my metaphysical business, Our Sunny Lives. As I mentioned, I even went so far as to design a logo and began selling items!
I have an eBay store that I began promoting on Instagram, but I haven't began doing very much with it...UNTIL NOW!
Now that Angeline and Jameson have moved into their new home, and I am in between day jobs for the time being, I have been thinking more and more about what I want to do for work. While I am still working on the blog more often than not, the travel industry really isn't what it used to be. The travel blogging industry has all but died in wake of social media influencers on Instagram and Tik Tok.
Fortunately, I have over a decade of experience in social media marketing due to my lifestyle blog, and after working with PR for so long, I've learned a thing or two about marketing not only a product, but a brand! 3 Tips for Starting a Metaphysical Business
Create a social media marketing plan for your metaphysical business
People don't go to blogs for travel advice like they used to, and I really can't blame the advertising industry for taking their marketing budgets to where the consumers are. I have spent the last year more focused on formulating a social media strategy and use my blog to supplement that presence and provide more in-depth reading material. This is exactly what will help my metaphysical business thrive.
Step 1: Set up social media accounts using the same account name for each account. i.e. My @OurSunnyLives works on Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest and Facebook.
Step 2: Begin by filling your social media channels with catchy content that you can promote, and cross promote using established social media accounts. Ask friends and family to help by sharing your promotional content to introduce you to their followers!
Step 3: Begin sharing the products you are selling online through social media. My first sales were a result of sharing my handmade, Reiki-charged bracelets on Instagram and Facebook, then a few "spell jars."
Make sure that you choose a brand name that is unique and CATCHY! So many people have moved towards energy healing and embracing the metaphysical over the last year or two due to us all being stuck at home watching social media while the world spiraled out of control...
Make sure that your brand name and logo are easily recognizable. I paid about $35 for a custom-made logo through Fiverr in 2020, and I love it!
Decide if you want to provide in person services or solely products and services for sale online
When I decided to open my eBay store, it was absolutely a business strategy based on my experience as a blogger. I began with a Shopify and Etsy store, but I soon realized that I was working to drive traffic to those stores, yet I wasn't seeing results.
So I opened an eBay store instead - did you know that your eBay listings show up in Google search engine results? Now I have two audiences: existing eBay shoppers and folks who are Googling certain products and phrases. I decided on a 3-prong approach: I offer products for sale in my eBay store, I will set up tables at farmer's markets and also offer Reiki healing services in-person.
I will be setting up tables at local farmer's markets in the near future, as the kinds of things I sell in my shop are pretty varied and unique! It is also a great way to get customers for my in-person healing services, as they begin to ask questions about different crystals and candles and then the conversations evolve from there!
What works for you? Do you have time to attend local trade shows, farmer's markets, and the like? You may even want to try to sell your wares to local metaphysical shops.
