Have you ever heard of the concept of “flow?” Here are 3 Tips for Enriching Your Life with the Power of Flow.

On the one hand, this refers to a state of mind described by the famous psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, in which people are fully engaged with what it is they are doing, and feel a blissful state of absorption in the task at hand.

On the other hand, “flow” is something that we all recognize in everyday life – it’s where things just seem to effortlessly come together in an organic way that doesn’t feel at all forced.

Here are just a handful of tips for enriching your life with power flow.

3 Tips for Enriching Your Life with the Power of Flow

    Recognize the power of simplicity

When all is said and done, simplicity can be a remarkably powerful thing in a variety of different ways.

When you simplify aspects of your life, you inevitably strip away a lot of the stuff that can cause you to become distracted, to lose your sense of direction, and to feel as though there’s a lot of struggle and difficulty required to get anything done.

Simplicity brings things into clear relief. It provides clarity, and lets you engage with life in a more natural and dynamic fashion.

There are many ways to simplify your life, ranging from using the services of a company like LastVerdict.co.uk to simplify your consumer decisions, to committing to fewer projects, to saying “no” more to demands that are made of your time.

Whatever the approach that works best for you, simplicity is often deeply revealing.

Approach everything in a spirit of “play” rather than “work”

There’s a very good argument to be made that the most successful and interesting people – whether artists, entrepreneurs, or any number of other things – frequently stand out so much because they are able to bring genuine passion, enthusiasm, and a spirit of “play” to their activities.

Too often, we convince ourselves that the thing to focus on – first and foremost – is hard work, grit, and discipline. But if you’re constantly trying to force your way to where you want to be, while suffering and having a miserable time in the process, this is the very opposite of “flow.”

Grinding may be enough to get you by, but it is unlikely to help you to thrive, or to help you to achieve truly meaningful things.

The more you can approach things in a spirit of play – with enthusiasm, joy, lightheartedness, and a desire to have fun – the more you will be operating in a condition and context of “flow.”

Get in touch with your intuitions, and remember that you always have a choice

In life, there are plenty of situations where it seems as though we have absolutely no choice whatsoever, and simply have to do as we’re told and put up with situations we would much rather avoid.

This view tends to be common with work, for example. We are all told that we “need to make a living,” but the truth is that any given time we have the ability to quit our jobs and turn our backs on the idea of “making a living” altogether. It’s not exactly advisable but it is possible, and some people do it.

The reality is that we “prefer” to make a living for the benefits it entails. But being aware that you always have a choice can be a very powerful mental exercise in helping you to expand your horizons and move out of a “scarcity” mentality.

Living in flow has a lot to do with getting in touch with your intuitions, and having the courage to pursue the things that make you come alive.
