Christmas Snowflake Stained Glass Cookies Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup 2 sticks, butter
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups white flour
  • 4 blue and 4 purple hard candies
  • white decorating sugar

Instructions

  1. Place one color of the candies into a resealable sandwich bag and seal shut. Place between a towel and use a rolling pin to crush the candies.
  2. Cream butter and sugar together in a bowl with a mixer until fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add eggs and beat well.
  4. Add vanilla and beat.
  5. Beat in flour, 1 cup at a time, jsut until combined.
  6. Fold dough onto plastic wrap and flatten. Refrigerate for an hour, or up to 24 hours.
  7. Remove from fridge and divide dough into thirds. Roll dough onto a floured surface with a rolling pin until about 1/4" thick.
  8. Use a snowflake cookie cutter to cut out dough.
  9. Use an apple corer to cut out the center.
  10. Place cookies onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  11. Fill each center cavity with about 1/2 teaspoon crushed candies.
  12. Bake for 5-9 minutes or until set and edges just begin to brown.
  13. Cool on pan for 5 minutes and remove to a cooling rack to finish cooling.
