Valentine Cupcake Heart Recipe

Author Jenn Quillen

Ingredients

  • 37 mini cupcakes baked and cooled completely
  • 2 tubs 16 ozs each prepared white frosting
  • Americolor color gels in deep pink and red red
  • 1 M piping tip
  • 3 piping bags
  • Note: Make your favorite cupcake recipe. If you are using a box mix bake mini muffins at 325 for about 15 minutes. You'll get 55-65 mini cupcakes from one box mix.

Instructions

  1. Place your cupcakes onto a large cutting board (mine measures 20" x 12") Create the heart shape with all of the cupcakes.
  2. If you plan to take your cupcakes anywhere, you'll need to do the next step, otherwise, you'll have cupcakes on the floor. I know from experience.
  3. Place a small amount of icing under each cupcake wrapper. Press onto the cutting board to secure.
  4. Place about 2/3 of a tub of white frosting into a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe white frosting onto the top cupcakes. When you pipe your frosting, make sure it goes to the edges of the cupcakes and almost connects them together.
  5. Place 2/3 of a tub of frosting into a large mixing bowl. Add deep pink color gels and mix well until the desired color is achieved. Place frosting into a piping bag fitted with a star tip and pipe onto the cupcakes under the white.
  6. Place the remaining white frosting into the same mixing bowl (I didn't bother to wash) and add red red color gels to tint the icing red to the desired shade. Place frosting into a piping bag fitted with a star tip and pipe onto the cupcakes.
