Why You Need to Step Outside of Your Comfort Zone and Try New Things

Published: Jun 1, 2023 · Modified: Jun 1, 2023 by Jennifer · This post may contain affiliate links · Leave a Comment

New things are scary. But our comfort zones are, well, comforting! So it’s easy to see why we would choose to stay within the comfort zones that we know and love rather than pushing ourselves to try and do new things.

But there are always going to be things that make our lives better, challenge us, and allow us to go to the next level in life – if only we were to let them. And in order to do that, it helps to have the confidence to try new things and step outside of our comfort zones. So in this blog post, we’re going to take a look at why you need to do it and the benefits of doing so.

    It’s Good to Challenge Yourself

To begin with, you’re always going to find that it’s always a good thing to be able to challenge yourself – even if it feels scary at first. It’s so easy to get set in our ways and that can limit us in life. A new challenge can be good for the mind, body, and soul.

    You Can Beat Anxiety

This may seem counterproductive, but pushing yourself to step out of your comfort zone can actually help you to beat anxiety. Living in fear only fuels your anxiety. But being able to live confidently and push your boundaries can ultimately help you to break the cycle and find more calm.

    You Can Learn New Things

At the same time, if you’re trying new things then you’re going to learn new things. Maybe it’s something that you’ve always wanted to learn, like French or tennis lessons. Or it could be something that’s piqued your interest like creating minecraft survival servers or learning to code. It doesn’t matter if these things are for fun, for life, for your career – or everything in between. It’s just about pursuing things you enjoy and learning new things in the process.

It’s Fun to Follow Your Dreams

But also, you have to admit that it’s going to be a lot of fun for you to actually follow your dreams too. If there have always been things on your mind that you’d love to do and you’ve always thought about, you owe it to yourself to follow them. You’ll never stop thinking about them anyway. But sometimes, this requires us to step outside of our comfort zones in order to do it.

Your Life is to be Lived

Ultimately, it’s important to remember that your life is to be lived. If you’re always playing it safe and holding yourself back, then you’re leaving a lot of your life on the table. This doesn’t mean you have to be wild and adventurous, but if there are things that you’ve always wanted to do, allow yourself to do the. Whether that’s traveling, changing careers, starting a hobby, creating something, or something else entirely, you owe it to yourself to make it happen.
