Rick Springfield Sweated On Me. For Reals.

Published: Oct 21, 2011 · Modified: Oct 10, 2012 by Jennifer · This post may contain affiliate links · 10 Comments

A few years go, my friends and I got tickets to see Rick Springfield at a concert venue I'd personally never been to before, the Gulfstream Amphitheater. Tickets were $50 and there were no opening acts, so I thought long and hard about going.

I mean, Rick Springfield is awesome, but was he awesome enough to drive an hour and spend $50 to see? I decided to just go for the hell of it and to have a fun night with my friends.

That turned out to be a great decision. The concert venue? It was tiny. We were in the 10th row. I swear I could smell Rick Springfield, we were so close to the stage. We may even have made eye contact - at least, that's what I told myself.

    Rick Springfield

But it got better than that. After about two songs, Rick Springfield got off the stage and walked around the amphitheater - it was so small that he just walked around us and stood on the fountain and sang to us, then jumped up on a planter that was in the middle of the isles and continued to sing.

That's where things got interesting. You see, he brought his guitar with him, and needed help steadying himself on top of the planter as he sang.

    I got to help.

    Rick Springfield

    Yup. I touched Rick Springfield.

I touched his leg, actually. His thigh, to be specific.

    It was pretty awesome.

I spent $50 to see one of the hottest old men in the music industry and ended up actually groping the singer while he sang Jesse's Girl. I may have touched his butt as we helped him climb down.

    Rick Springfield sweated on me.

It was the best $50 I've ever spent.

I got to see Rick Springfield when he played a local festival/carnival thing several years ago. It was so much fun and definitely one of the best performers that place has ever seen.
