ZayconFoods – the best chicken we’ve ever eaten!

Last week, I received a shipment of chicken breasts from Zaycon Foods. Wait a second…let me rephrase that! Last week, ZaycoonFoods personally delivered to me forty pounds of fresh chicken breast. That’s right. I said forty pounds!

You might be wondering how I managed to get my hands on that amount of meat. It was simple really; Zaycon Foods wants to branch out and begin working with new markets. Fortunately for me, they specifically want to start working with the South Florida market!

Here’s a bit about how the company works, which you can also read on their website.

1) COMBINED
     BUYING
     POWER
2) DIRECT
     FARM-TO-
     CONSUMER
3) SOLD BY
     THE CASE
4) SELECT
     PRODUCTS
5) SALES EVENT
     MODEL
They combine the buying power of many families together, enabling them to negotiate huge savings on food purchases for your family
They bring products direct from the farm / processor (or as nearly as direct as possible). The products are as fresh as if you had your own farm, but without all the chores
They sell food products only by the case. No extra costs for handling. And no more empty shelves in your pantry
They sell only what we eat ourselves—high quality, healthy food. Their focus is on a select number of commonly consumed food items such as fresh meats like chicken, beef, turkey, pork and fish
Their unique sales event approach turns traditional food purchasing on its ear. Convenient, quick, organized—about 2 minutes and you never even need to get out of your car

After doing a bit of research and going through their Twitter feed, I found that their average price for fresh chicken was about $1.54 a pound. That’s right – $1.54 a pound. WOW. You really can’t beat that price – even with shopping special sales and using coupons!!

Now, with forty pounds of chicken, I knew that I had to share the wealth, so to speak. I planned on bringing about 15 pounds to a BBQ I was attending a few days after my shipment arrived.  I split the chicken breasts and marinated one bag in a sun-dried tomato marinade and the other in a zesty Italian marinade. Once we arrived at the party, I simply handed them over to my husband, as he was manning the grill.

You wouldn’t believe the rave reviews I got when my friends started eating! You would have thought that they’d never eaten chicken before, that is how much they raved about it!

One guy told me, “That is the best chicken I’ve ever had.”

Another girl told me, “That is the juiciest chicken I’ve ever eaten!”

I was doing low carb that day, so I ate a lot of chicken. LOL

A few days ago, I used a few breasts in a recipe that I like to make for my husband and I – it’s similar to Chicken ala King. Chicken breasts, long grain wild rice, cream of mushroom soup and mushrooms…it tasted so much better with the chicken from Zaycon Foods! I tried a little test to see if my husband noticed the difference…I told him I had to change the recipe a bit because I couldn’t remember exactly what was supposed to go in it, and did he still like it? He said it actually tasted better. Ha! It was the same recipe – the only difference was using the Zaycon Foods chicken!

I sent a bag over to my mom’s house for her to try out on my dad and sister…again, nothing but compliments and praise for Zaycon Foods!

Her message to me on Facebook the next day came with this accompanying photo: “I thinly sliced the chicken breasts, sprinkled them with garlic powder and threw them on the grill. They were very tasty and juicy! Hubby always complains that he doesn’t care for breast meat very much because it tends to be too dry, but he enjoyed every bite!”

I have to say, I was really excited to write this review for Zaycon Foods, because my experience was so positive. I literally had people emailing me asking where they can buy this chicken!

Here’s the thing – they are still expanding their market. They will only begin servicing new areas when they have 80 people registered in that area – for instance, my area would be South Florida. Once they have 80 people, they will hold an “event” which means they will take orders and drive to that area and deliver. You drive up to their refrigerated van and they load the case of chicken, beef, etc – whatever it happens to be that they are selling with that event – directly into your car. All you have to do is pop the trunk!

In order to help spread the word about Zaycon Foods, they are sponsoring a giveaway for Rebel Chick’s readers! IF they currently deliver in your area, you can win a $65 credit towards an order. If you aren’t in an area where they currently deliver, you can win a $30 check that they will send out to you!
