Preheat oven to 350 and grease a mini muffin pan with nonstick cooking spray.
Place wonton wrappers into mini muffin tins and press into the bottom with a pastry shaper or your fingers.
Bake for 8 minutes or until browned.
Remove from oven and let cool.
Place apples, butter, sugar, water and cinnamon into a sauce pan.
Heat over medium heat, stirring frequently until apples are soft and no longer crunchy and liquid is almost absorbed, about 20 minutes.
Remove from heat and let cool until warm.
Spoon apple mixture into each wonton cup and serve immediately topped with whipped topping or refrigerate, covered until ready to serve.
Bring to room temperature before serving with whipped cream.
