Instant Pot Apple Chicken Thighs Recipe

  • 4 bone-in chicken thighs
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • salt and pepper
  • 1/2 cup onion diced
  • 1 tablespoon garlic
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup apple butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 large apple peeled, cored and cut into chunks


  1. Place oil and chicken thighs into instant pot. Season with salt and pepper. Sautee thighs until browned on both sides. Add onion, garlic, broth, apple butter, spices and apple to the instant pot.
  2. Place lid on instant pot and seal shut. Close the pressure release valve. Set the instant pot to manual, high pressure for 11 minutes. When cooking cycle is complete, quick release the pressure and carefully open the lid.
  3. Remove the chicken thighs and serve with apples.
