Now that the new year is underway, I have been thinking about the kinds of things I want to accomplish this year. Not in the New Year Resolution kind of way, but in a bigger way...like going back to school.
I didn't go to college after high school. I got pregnant with Angeline in my senior year, and with that, my plans for college or the military went out the window. As I settled into my role as working mother in the late 90's, I never considered going back to school. My time with Angeline was so limited after I worked a long day - I couldn't imagine giving up even more time away from her.
When online education became more widely available in the 2000's, Chris was able to attend classes online and get his Associates degree, and then his Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences. I always feel a little sad when the topic of education comes up and I have to admit that I didn't go to college...
One of my goals for this year is to further my education. Whether it be a course on web design that will help me in my blogging career, or accounting classes to help me balance my books better, I want to do something to better myself!
While I am no longer working those long hours at an office, I still don't like the idea of leaving my family to take classes at the local community college at night. I didn't leave my career to be at home just to not be here every night!
That's why I have become so fond of virtual colleges, like Ivy Bridge College. Ivy Bridge College knows how crazy my schedule as a mom can be, and their online education program caters to our busy schedules. Ivy Bridge College has a unique program that allows both stay at home and working moms to work on our Associate's degree at our own pace, and makes the process of transferring to one of their partner schools - like Arizona State University, the University of Maryland, Rutgers University, Pepperdine and many others - to complete a four-year degree.
What I really love about Ivy Bridge College is that they cater to the needs of moms like myself, with free success coaching, academic advising, career advising, transfer advising, tutoring, and a private online community just for us moms too!
The goal at Ivy Bridge College is to be a successful tool in helping moms achieve our educational goals.
Another incredible benefit of Ivy Bridge College is that an advanced education degree is only about ⅓ of what it costs to attend other private universities, and the program is so flexible that you can even earn an Associate's Degree in just 17 months.
