Why is it so hard to find a beach cover-up in Miami?

I am almost done gathering my things for my upcoming trip to Barbados (insert squeals of excitement here)...the one thing I've had a hard time finding are cover ups for going to the beach during the day.

We'll be staying at the Hilton in Bridgetown in Barbados, thanks to my husband's schedule - the hotel is paid for! Woo hoo! The hotel looks gorgeous and it's right on the beach, which means that I do not want to actually get dressed each day to go to the beach...but I definitely do not want to walk through the hotel lobby and across the tourist areas just in my bathing suit.

I've never actually owned a cover-up and honestly, don't know exactly what I want in one! Last weekend my girlfriend and I went to the mall and I looked for loose fitting sundresses to just throw over my bikini, but nothing was loose enough! I just want something simple that I can just throw on and throw off. All of the cover ups I found were mesh-like sarongs or tanks and honestly, I would never wear that again!

So I came up with the idea of looking at plus sized dresses - they're loose, they're pretty and they serve the purpose perfectly!

I found this simple, sleeveless shift dress in a size 12.  I am a size 8, so this will just be big enough to wear over my suit and walk around without embarrassment while I am there!

Once I come back home to Miami, I can throw on sandals and a cool belt and wear it as a normal dress. During the "winter" I can wear it similarly to how the model is wearing it - with boots and perhaps a cardigan. I love it!

What do you wear as a beach or pool cover up?

Excellent. When I'm looking for a cover up it's usually something that is light weight and long sleeved. Since I've had melanoma I really try to avoid excess sun exposure. I would totally wear that!
