Why Hospitality TVs Can Enhance Your Vacation Experience

Although you may not know it, there are differences between the consumer televisions we have at home, and the televisions in hotel rooms. Hotel rooms are equipped with hospitality TVs. They are even better than consumer televisions, because they have several perks you can't get on the TV in your own home. But why? What makes these devices unique for the hospitality industry at large?

Are the smart features making the newer hotel TVs worth the investment? Or perhaps, are these TVs including many integrations with the apps we already know, like Google Assistant? The answers will depend on the actual brand of hospitality TV, but all of those bells and whistles come bundled with TVs explicitly made to enhance the guest experience. Here's a look at why they're so popular with visitors of all ages.

Explaining Hospitality TVs: Devices Connected to Hotel Systems Directly

In short, a hospitality TV isn't a regular television. It still comes in high-definition resolution – some come in full 4k HD – but each TV has unique capabilities. For example, these TVs connect to the hotel's backend technology directly, so you're going to have more options no matter what. Many come with special hotel-related applications, too, for easy self-checkout or ordering room service without picking up the phone.

You can also connect these TVs together in a network, with a hospitality tv server, which makes it easy to manage and maintain them remotely. Updates happen with a single click instead of going to each TV individually and updating them one by one. It saves everyone time, including the guests, as we'll discuss below.

Finding Out About Your Destination: Smart TVs Connected to Tourism Info

The best TVs for hospitality always connect to hotels directly, but that’s not all they’re capable of, especially when you come across a premium brand with more integrations than you're likely to use. For example, you can expect more information than just the current outdoor temperature. You might get a full video forecast via a native application with one of these types of TVs.

Generally speaking, there's a trend toward including vital tourism info on the welcome screen or using the embedded apps in creative ways to promote certain local attractions. They may also offer entertainment suggestions. So, if you're staying in a hotel in Paris, France, you can almost guarantee that your TV will display tips for new tourists who may not know where the best attractions really are. Nowadays, it's all about enhancing the guest's experience.

Disconnecting from Traveling: Entertainment with TV Programming and Streaming Services All in One Device

Not many of us stay at a hotel to watch TV, but it nonetheless provides a better guest experience. After all, the whole point of staying in a hotel is to have somewhere comfortable to lay down your head after a long day out and about. Visiting somewhere new for the first time can be an exciting but slightly overwhelming adventure. You might be so excited to begin your stay that you don't realize how much energy you expend going out shopping, having dinner with new friends, or simply taking in the local culture.

That's what a great hotel stay looks like in a perfect world, yet some of us need a little more time to wind down and disconnect from a hectic itinerary. Hospitality TVs come into play once again because they're simply more fun to use once you get used to the remote control's layout. Best of all, you can activate them using voice commands, which most TVs can't do unless you buy an expensive top-of-the-line model, but hotels come with those features standard.

Streaming Music via Apps (YouTube, Spotify, etc.): Setting the Ambiance

The smart TVs on the market today come with streaming services already embedded in the software, but the quality of those applications is sometimes suspect at best. You may have cut the cord a long time ago and jumped into streaming media, so quality hotel TVs will come with all of the favorites you know and love, like YouTube and Spotify. But that's only the starting point because apps also include Alexa and Google Assistant.

Not so long ago, TVs didn’t have the hardware to accommodate apps like those, yet the situation is different now. A lot of TVs made for hotels include apps, and they’re getting better with each update. Overall, there’s a trend towards integrations in so-called “dumb” devices to make them voice-operated. High-tech Remote controls and hospitality TVs are only the beginning because hotels now include smart devices to make the stay more comfortable.

Ultimately, you can enhance your experience while staying at a hotel by taking advantage of all the features that hospitality TVs have to offer. The only tricky part is deciding what to watch first and when to unwind from the day.
