I love weddings.
I love everything about them, from getting dressed up, to seeing my husband wear a tie, to shopping for the perfect gift...to the open bar and wedding cake!
There is something magical about weddings, what with their romantic vows and the first dance and the kissing...I am not an overly romantic sap, but weddings always make me tear up.
Luckily, my little sister is getting married in March and I am a bridesmaid for her wedding! Score!!
Last weekend, my daughter and I went with my sister to the seamstress who is making her wedding dress. Her red wedding dress.
What can I say, I'm not the only rebel in the family! Her color scheme is red and black; her dress is red and the bridesmaid's dresses are black.
I can't even begin to tell you how relieved I am that my bridesmaid dress is a cute little black dress that I can wear again and again and again! Yay!
When I first pictured her colors, I couldn't imagine what it would all look like once it was put together. But then I saw her invitations and I was sold!
My mother created an event on Facebook to invite all of the friends and family to the wedding, and then special ordered these lovely black and red invitations for the family to have as keepsakes. She and my sister eventually settled on another set of invitations for the rest of the guest list - because you really can't just use Facebook events for a wedding invite!
One of the great things about having a big family is that there are a lot of people to help with the details of putting a wedding together. My mom and aunt (who is my sister's best friend) are handling 99% of the wedding, but I am in charge of the cake topper and the goodies for the bachelorette party.
The cake topper? Jack and Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas! I am still scouring the internet for an appropriate figurine to use as the cake topper!
Have you ever been to a non-traditional wedding?

I think it's awesome when couples make their wedding special and significant to them. 🙂
I have been to all kinds of weddings, but this one will take the cake!

Her dress is gorgeous! And why not have the wedding of your dreams! And not just tradition.

LOVE it! Who says brides have to wear white anyways? Off topic slightly, but a good friend of mine had the best wedding cake ever - it was a nightmare before christmas theme and it was awesome!

Oh wow, that dress is going to be gorgeous next to all of the black ones. I wanted a light pink dress for my wedding but my mom talked me out of ... even though I was quite obviously pregnant and a bit beyond "wearing white". lol

That's beautiful! I want to renew my vows to my husband sometime during our 10th year and if I do it on the beach I want to go non-white/cream.

That dress is beautiful!

Your sister is awesome! I love her dress and the colors she picked out. That invitation is so pretty. I also had the wedding that I wanted. I got married in jeans! 🙂

Gorgeous, so unique and lovely...I'd so do red!
