What Are Your Travel Plans For This Summer?

It's almost that time of year again...

    SUMMER!

As you may have noticed, I like to travel quite a bit during the summer. As I attempted to plan a party with a friend last night, I realized that my time in Miami will be very limited in June...as in I will only be home one weekend in the entire month! As I went over my schedule with my pal, she asked me how I can afford to travel so much, considering that I left my office job two years ago.

I love when people ask me this question!

Now, of course I have to be very selective about when and where I travel, because I can't afford to go just anywhere. But budgeting myself and watching out for deals makes a big difference! I tend to book hotels through discount travel websites for the best deals!

The same goes for attractions - always look for special promotions! Our first trip this summer will be to the Orlando/Kissimmee area, and as Florida residents, we qualified for special state resident discounts!

On our agenda for our three day stay in Orlando/Kissimmee:

    1. Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom
    2. Universal Orlando's Islands of Adventure
    3. Arabian Knights Dinner Show
    4. Outlet Shopping
The day after I return home from Orlando/Kissimmee, I leave for a week-long stay in Colorado, bouncing back and forth between the Denver and Keystone area for a blogging conference and site seeing with one of my favorite blogging friends! Since we had to pay for our ticket to the conference, plus airfare and hotel for the special location in Keystone, that didn't leave a large budget for other travel expenses...like hotels before and after the conference, dining out and site seeing!

Our tentative agenda for our week in Colorado includes:

    • Culinary tour of the Denver area
    • Whiskey tasting
    • Art Gallery exhibits
    • Blogging Conference
    • Fort Collins Exploration

It was very important that the three of us book cheap hotel stays for the days before and after the conference, in order to really make the most of our time in Colorado. There are so many incredible things to do and see that we wanted to save room in our budget for them all!

Four days after I arrive home from Colorado, my family leaves for Michigan and Ohio to attend my niece's birthday party, spend time with my in-laws, and then take a mini family vacation to the Cedar Park amusement park - it's said to be the best roller coaster park in the United States!

Fortunately, my sister in-law has room in her home for us to stay with them in Michigan during the birthday party, but we will have to pay for a hotel and rental car for our mini vacation to Ohio to visit the theme park. I am still searching for the best deals on hotels and trying to find a discount for the amusement park, but I haven't given up yet!

And then there's the road trips in July, Blogher conference in August and my week-long trip to LA in late August...

What are your travel plans for this summer?

I normally plan a family vacation for the summer, but this year I am behind on the planning. Hopefully we will get to go to Disneyland because my son hasn't been there yet and now he is old enough to enjoy it.

Same as Becca, no plans. However we hope to go to Wildwood for our anniversary as long as the doctor gives us the OK! 🙂

I'm from Ohio and Cedar Point is ABSOLUTELY the best park in the states. I miss it so much!

As for my plans...none yet. We just moved to...what do you know, Colorado. 🙂

Enjoy your stay, it's awesome here.

Sounds like you are going to have a great summer. It is great to hear that you can still travel and save money for that next adventure and get the best deals online.

It looks like you have a busy summer ahead of you! Blogging conferences are a great way to get a little vacation in along with work! I debated about going to BlogHer Food or BlogHer, but in the end, I decided to skip both & save the money for a photography workshop. So depending when one of those opens up, I'll be doing that and then we'll probably go to the NC coast for a few days. 🙂

It sounds like you have a busy summer ahead of you! We really don't have anything planned this year because we have animals, but we hope to take a vacation or two in the fall.

Sounds like you're going to have a lot of fun this summer. I too use discount travel websites when planning trips. This summer so far the only plans we have are fishing, camping, swimming and bike rides. Oh, also, a little skating and bowling too.
