Wow! 2021 is really flying by. Can you believe it is summer already? It feels like it just snuck up on us. There is a good chance you haven’t made plans because of pandemic uncertainty. That seems to be the theme of 2021. With the vaccinations, the worst of the pandemic is surely behind us. But there is also the problem that everyone who wants to get vaccinated probably already has been. The bad news is that it is not enough for herd immunity.
Does that mean we will never be able to go out again without wearing a mask? Are we permanently restricted to social distancing and half empty venues? That is unacceptable. No one on either side of the debate wants that. So here we are in a holding pattern, waiting to see what, if anything, comes next.
If you are fully vaccinated, you have the option to pick your moment. You are the one who has to decide when life restarts. This is as good a time as any. The summer waits for no one. Don’t miss it. What Are You Going to Do with Your Summer? Here Are a Few Suggestions
What Are You Going to Do with Your Summer? Here Are a Few Suggestions
Go to a Resort
San Diego is one of the most desirable cities in the world. Try kicking off your summer at a San Diego spa resort. Resorts are like cruise ships. You can do a little bit of everything you might ever want to do. The variety of activities is off the charts. It is a getaway with all of your options completely open. You can do everything from staying in bed and getting room service all day to all the water sports common in that region.
If it is dining and entertainment you want, a nice resort has you covered. You can try your luck at gaming tables or take in a magic show that is sure to please. Like a cruise, the fun is not limited to the main location. You can take excursions to the nearby attractions. San Diego is so diverse, you can go from water skiing to downhill skiing faster than you think. You can take in your favorite sports team depending on the time of year. You can take a walk on the beach or drive a dune buggy if that is more your speed. A resort vacation is an everything vacation. Resorts were made for summers.
Make Your Home a Summer Home
You don’t have to be shamed into getting out and about before you are ready. The good news is that there are plenty of things to do for those who stay home for the summer. There has never been a better time to have that skylight installed. You want to experience the outside as much as possible without having to get out of the house. So bring as much of that light into the house as possible.
If you are okay with getting out of the house in a limited manner, update your backyard and front porch. You can put up a gazebo in your backyard and transform it into a park, or mini golf course, or a swimming area, or whatever activity you like to do. You can screen in your front porch so you can see and interact with people from a safe distance. Not leaving home does not mean you have to skip summer. You can still embrace it with gusto.
Reconnect with Family and Friends in Person
A compromise between a resort vacation and staying at home is visiting friends and family that you haven’t seen in person for over a year. If they happen to live two states away, all the better. Now, you have an excuse to do a bit of driving. Your car will very much appreciate the workout. When it comes to reconnecting with friends, no extra activities are necessary.
Just being present is reward enough. These are the people who know you best. You will see that a heavy weight is lifted just by being with them again.
When it comes to summer, there are no rules. You can go to a nice resort and have it all, stay at home, or get out to reconnect with friends and family in person. When you do what you love, there is no wrong way to summer.
