TurboTax Makes Tax Time & ACA Healthcare Easier to Manage

“This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and TurboTax, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #TurboTaxACA http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV”

It's that time of year again: TAX TIME. Important tax documents have arrived in the mail and people all across the country are busy organizing receipts, gathering tax documents and sitting down to file their income taxes.

    Tax Time

Some people are on top of it and ready to file the first day that day e-file is available, or have long-standing appointments with a tax professional. I remember when filing my taxes was that easy! A few check marks here and there, input numbers directly from my W-2s and I was done. Being a wife, a parent, and a blogger has changed that. My taxes are a little more involved these days - and by that I mean they can be a total headache. Between a Paypal 1099k, numerous 1099-MISC, my husband's W2, tracking my business income and expenses and dealing with the brand new ACA compliance issues...let's just say that it's not so easy as checking a box. Or is it?

TurboTax is making filing our taxes much easier with their new TurboTax Health feature. While you can go off on your own and explore each section, I much prefer TurboTax's guided approach. They literally walk you through every possible step, starting with personal information, federal and state taxes, and all of the credits and deductions available.

TurboTax also looks for other scenarios that could save you money - like the home office deduction, which is a huge hassle for small business owners when handling their taxes on their own. Each section is easy to navigate and you can revisit sections, no matter where are you in the process, to make changes or additions. There are even forums where filers can ask tax questions! TurboTax makes sure all my tax ducks are in a row.

As a self-employed individual, I was without health insurance in 2014. As you are probably aware, we now have to report our health insurance status on our income tax returns. All I can say is thank goodness for TurboTax Health. I found this whole "tax penalty" for not being able to afford health insurance a little intimidating and quite frankly, I was really nervous about not handling it correctly on my taxes! As a small business owner, I have enough to worry about when it comes to making sure that I am handling my business income, deductions, and self employment taxes the correct way. No one wants an IRS audit, right? I feel much more confident now that TurboTax is helping me with this portion of my 2014 taxes!

    health care and your taxes

Reporting our health insurance status - and possibly facing a penalty for being without insurance - is a huge change and can cause some stress when filing income tax returns. TurboTax Health provides all the tools tax filers need to understand every health insurance situation as it relates to taxes and ensure that we still receive our maximum return this year, or in my case, owe as little taxes as possible.

Check out this helpful TurboTax video on Uninsured Filers!

This weekend is very important, as health insurance open enrollment ends on Sunday, February 15. In order to avoid a penalty on your taxes next year, February 15th is the last chance you'll have to purchase insurance! TurboTax Health has a wealth of information regarding health insurance and taxes, including determining if you're exempt from the tax penalty.

Be sure to head over to TurboTax.com to file for FREE until February 16 - if you have a simple return - 1040A/EZ.

I ave always done my taxes by myself, at home, with the help of tax preparation software. These is just something about trusting someone else to me finances I can't sit with. My father has used Turbo Tax since I was a young child, its a best kept secret in our family.

We've never used anything except for Turbo Tax. There was one year about 15 years ago where we moved to NYC and left behind an apartment where I had to break a lease and Tim had lost a job and had a car repo'd and like 20 other heavy things happened. Because of this we went to H&R Block and got totally screwed. Would have been better if we'd done it ourselves at home with Turbo Tax.

Sounds like an easy to use software. I always hand over my papers to my accountant but I would certainly get this software if I did my own taxes.

I do not know anyone that enjoys filing taxes. However, TurboTax makes it look so easy to get it done and out of the way.

I filed taxes a couple weeks ago and got my return a few days ago - yay! The bad thing about it is that it's mostly going to go on medical expenses. Maybe I will get something fun next year, though! 🙂

Yuck! My least favorite time of year. We use Turbo Tax, too though and love it. It helps to ease the pain of number crunching and deductions.

I love that Turbo Tax makes it easy to file your own taxes. The fact that all the current laws are included, as are new deductibles and penalties, is a huge plus than just trying to tackle it solo.

I pay an accountant to do my taxes, but I watch him closely and should really save the money and do it myself. We are just not that complicated!
      thanks,

Doing taxes stink! I do my own because I like knowing everything and being able to keep track of it all, and Turbo Tax is a great resource.

Ugh, I spent all of January doing taxes. This year I am being much more organized. I don't want to repeat this hectic stuff next year. Earlier in our marriage, my husband and I used TurboTax exclusively and loved it. Now, we pay someone to do our taxes. I still recommend Turbo Tax to our family and friends though.

We are Turbo Tax loyalists, my husband loves the program and how easy it is. We haven't filed yet but we plan on replacing the windshield on my daughter's car (omg she has a car!) and put the rest in savings! Super exciting, lol!

We have used Turbo Tax the past few years and I have to say it makes our lives sooo much easier than what we used before.
