Treat Yourself to a Spa Day Without Leaving the House
Check out these tips below and you will quickly discover that there are tons of ways to have a spa day at home on a budget!
Determine Your Needs
When you enter a spa, there is usually a menu available so that you can see exactly what treatments are offered. Some of the options might include facials, massages, mud baths, sauna treatment, waxing, and other therapeutic treatments.
So which of these interests you the most? You will need to have a general idea so that you can create a shopping list to gather all the supplies.
Grab Your Supplies for a Spa Day at Home on a Budget
Now that you know what you’re interested in doing the most, you can create a list of supplies to get so you have them in store whenever you are ready to pamper yourself. Some basic spa-like products that you might need would include:
- A facial scrub or mask
- Massage oils
- Bath salts and soothing body soap
- Salt or Sugar scrubs
- Scented candles or aromatherapy oils
- A nice bath robe or towels
- Soothing lotions
The supplies you will need will greatly depend upon the type of spa treatment you want to give yourself.
In a perfect world, you might be able to enjoy a Watson's swim spas and make a totally luxurious spa day for yourself, but there are some basic staples you can enjoy even without one. I invested in a small spa late last year and it has been one of the best investments for my relaxation, and my boyfriend's bad back. I highly recommend it if your budget can accommodate a spa!

Create a Relaxing Atmosphere for an At Home Spa Day
You really do not even have to turn your entire home into a spa to enjoy a little pampering from time to time. If you have a nice sized master bedroom and bathroom, this would be the ideal place to set up shop.
Even if you do not have a lot of space, you can still make the most of it and carve out a little sanctuary for yourself...even if it is just for a few hours.
To set the mood, you will want to light some scented candles or aromatherapy oils, turn on some soothing instrumental music such as jazz, and dim the lights. This will give you a relaxed feeling when you enter the room, just like the relaxing, soothing ambiance they create for you in a spa.
Get Rid of the Kids or Give them Something To Keep Them Busy
Of course, it can be hard to relax and unwind when you have the kids running around looking for you, so see if you can get someone to watch them for a few hours. Your spouse, parents, or family members would be great options as the kids can enjoy themselves while you sit back and relax.
If you can not find someone to watch the kids for you, of course, you can always wait until they are asleep and have your private moment when the house is the quietest. You can also create a Kid's Day for them to give them something to do for a few hours.
Line up a television series or series of movies for them, give them some snacks so they don't interrupt you.
If your kids are like most, they won't want to be left out, so tell them they will get a nice reward for leaving you alone for a few hours - maybe an extra special dessert that you can all make together, like this Incredibly Easy Churro Cake Recipe!
Start the Pampering Process to Treat Yourself to a Spa Day Without Leaving the House
Now you have your supplies, you have set the mood, the kids are with relatives or busy doing their own thing, now it is time to enjoy the fruits of your labor!
Apply your facial mask now so that it can start to get deep into your pores. You can also use peel off face masks - those are my absolute favorite!
Then soak for a while in a nice hot bath complete with bath salts and a glass of wine or hot tea. (If you have really young ones at home that are entertaining themselves, I recommend skipping the wine, as you never know when they might need you!)
A nice way to pamper yourself on a budget is to make a DIY Lavender Salt Soak Recipe - it is super easy to make and smells so lovely, and lavender is known for its relaxing effects!
Next, hop out and give yourself a soothing self-massage with scented lotions like lavender. Finish the evening off by just relaxing in your favorite spot in the home with some peace and quiet.
While you may not be able to afford the luxuries of a spa day on a regular basis, you can easily put your mind and body at ease from the comforts of your own home.
Depending on what your shopping budget is and what spa treatments you are most interested in, you can easily set up shop in your bedroom or bathroom. Take the day to turn off your wandering brain and just be in the moment as you prepare yourself for the week ahead.
