Although it's the time of year where many blogs are publishing their best-of lists for films and music, it's sometimes a little more exciting to have a look ahead to next year to see what entertainment we'll be consuming.
Whether it's embracing the next wave of online games or enjoying the retro-fun of some craftily-updated movie remakes, it looks like 2016 is going to be a spectacular year. So here's what you should look out for.
Music and technology
One thing's for certain, and that's that we're going to be spending even more time staring at our mobile devices in 2016. It's already thought that Apple will catch up with Spotify in 2016 by having over 20 million subscribers by the end of next year. But what will we be listening to in 2016?
The year looks to give Kanye West the chance to match his controversial outbursts with his music when his seventh album entitled Swish is expected to drop at some point in the next twelve months. And for more traditional musical entertainment, it looks like 2016 will be a big year for Guns n' Roses with the notorious band planning a tour and a long-awaited album featuring both Slash and Axl Rose.
Gaming innovations
As video gaming is now thought to be worth more than the music industry, it's always interesting to see how this rapidly-growing market will unfold. And already there are signs that Nintendo are coming back to shake things up with their highly-secretive Nintendo NX device that is rumoured to feature a touchscreen handheld-controller.
And one area of gaming that is expected to keep growing throughout 2016 is that of online gambling. Already sites such asRoyal Vegas Casino have enjoyed phenomenal success thanks to their mobile innovations which have meant that gamers can now access a range of roulette, blackjack and even video poker games to recreate the authentic casino experience in their living room.
Retro cinema treats
It's not just Royal Vegas Casino who have enjoyed the popularity of comic book adaptations with the likes of their Hellboy slots game, as 2016 looks to feature a brace of superhero stars at the cinema too.
Already the likes of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is steadily filling up the internet with pre-release hype, and further top comic book adaptations for 2016 include X-Men: Apocalypse, Captain America: Civil War and Suicide Squad.
But all's not lost, as it's the return of Ghostbusters in their startling new all-female form that looks to provide us with the best bet for some guaranteed laughs in 2016.
