My most recent update about Angeline's Invisalign Teen treatment is a little late, I'm sorry about that! After catching the most awful illness of our lives coming home from Rome last week, Angeline and I are just now getting out of bed and beginning to feel slightly human again. What a way to end a fabulous European vacation! {insert sarcastic look here}
We don't have much new information to share about Angeline's Invisalign Teen treatment plan right now because well, this summer has not been very productive. Between Angeline "forgetting" to wear her Invisalign Teen aligners while on our cruise in June, and losing her aligners at the airport the day we left for a two-week vacation in Europe...see where I'm going with this?
Because Angeline lost her aligner before we left for two weeks, we were unable to get a replacement set because we were in Europe. I figured it would be okay, we would just have her put on the new pair when we got home in August.
I was so embarrassed to tell you guys that she hasn't done well this summer, but then as I began thinking about it, I realized that this is actually one of the great benefits of the Invisalign Teen treatment plan over orthodontic braces: you can work with them.
The Invisalign Teen treatment plan came with a guarantee, and a replacement set of aligners. Apparently, we aren't the first family this has happened to if they've built it into their program!
And if your teen hasn't been so great about wearing their Invisalign aligners, and aren't quite ready to move to the next set when it's time, they can simply continue to wear their current set for another week or so to catch up, so to speak!
We have our next appointment with our orthodontist on August 21st and at that point, we will know just how far behind Angeline has fallen in her treatment plan. While we've already noticed a slight improvement in her dental issues, I'm hoping that we haven't undone that improvement by her not wearing her aligners properly this summer!
With the back-to-school season in full swing right now, have you thought about starting your teen's year off right with an orthodontic consultation? One of the main deterrents to many people facing the choice between traditional braces and Invisalign is that their dentist says they aren't a good candidate. What you may not realize is that not all dentists are actually licensed to provide Invisalign, and since there is no profit involved in referring a candidate to a qualified provider, they simply say that the patient isn't a good candidate. Getting a second opinion is so important!
I suggest taking the Invisalign Smile Assessment and finding a qualified dentist or orthodontist using the Find a Doctor tool on the Invisalign website if you are considering Invisalign treatment for yourself or your teen!
Don't forget to check back later this month as I share our updates after Angeline's next appointment!

Mine is only 6, but the dentist already told me the odds are she will need braces when she gets older. I will be going with invisalign when that day comes.

I so want to get those for myself. I had braces when I was younger but my teeth have shifted some over the years.

We wanted to go with Invisalign with our daughter when she had braces, but unfortunately our orthodontic insurance didn't cover enough of the cost of it compared to traditional braces 🙁

When it's time for our sons to get their teeth straightened, I think we'll be getting these too.

Jenn she is gorgeous! My kids are still a little young but I will definitely keep Invisalign in mind if they need braces.

I'm not even a teenager & I lose and forget stuff all the time so I totally get it!

My son had metal braces and I'm forever fighting with him to wear his retainer so I know the hassle. I myself would love the invisalign but when it comes to my sons I know they need something they can't remove LOL

ha ha! Angeline's friend also has Invisalign and she told me that she has hardly worn hers this summer too. It seems so simple, but with teenagers, you just have to keep on them!

That makes me feel better! I was so mad at her, I am going to be so embarrassed when we got to the ortho and he sees that her teeth haven't progressed like they were supposed to this summer!

Well, I am very forgetful and misplace things all the time, so I really can talk. 🙂 I know my son will need braces and I'm sure this is in my future, too.
