The Odds Of Burglary in America - An Infographic

While I have been quite lucky with regards to burglary, my parents have not been so fortunate.

After having their recreational vehicles stolen twice within a year - that's right, the replacements were stolen as well - they are looking for home alarm systems with video monitoring and automatic notifications via cell phone and calls to their land line when there is a disturbance in the yard.

The thieves actually cut through the fence between my parent's home and the empty house next door, fed the dogs treats to keep them quiet, and rolled their ATVs out. They did this both times!

I know that most people think that they will never be burglarized, but it really could happen to you! And if it doesn't happen to you, then it is probably happening to someone you know! While I have never been the victim of burglary, my parents have numerous times, as well as my next door neighbors - on both sides of my home - and other friends in the neighborhood.

I honestly thing that the only reason we haven't been robbed yet is that we have storm proof windows which are literally impossible to break into, and our Alaskan Malamute, Foxy, is often mistaken for a wolf hybrid.

Even so, I have begun looking into home alarm systems myself, since I work from home and would almost definitely be in the house if someone were to find a way to break in.

My friend Penelope at Penelope's Oasis  has some fantastic tips on keeping your family and home safe from burglars, and shared this infographic today, which was created by Home Security Store.

Home Security Store will be creating a series of infographics giving tips on staying safe and protecting your family and your home. A new infographic will be featured each month, so keep an eye out!

This infographic was created by Home Security Systems and contains paid links. However, all opinions are my own.

It's scary to think like that right?

Burglars can be very intelligent these days, which is why home security system is now a necessity.
This post gives an idea how burglars will think and react in situations where security systems are installed at home.
Given that you already have the most effective security system at home, it is also advisable for you to have your police contact number ready anytime.
