For many people, winter is a time to curl up under a few blankets with a cup of hot chocolate. However, if you come from a place where summer is almost a year-long event, winter doesn’t look so bad. The falling snow, winter sports, and the magnificent beauty that comes with winter are worth getting out for. Perhaps take a vacation somewhere cold for a change instead of going to hot beaches all the time. Here are some of The Coldest Vacation Spots and Why They Are Cool.

The Coldest Vacation Spots and Why They Are Cool.

  1. Norway

The northern lights have been described as the most beautiful thing on earth. Svalbard, Norway, is one of the best places in the world to experience this miracle. You will also get to see amazing frozen glaciers and wild animals like polar bears enjoying the cold. You can take part in the sled rides and take warm outdoor baths before leaving to watch the northern lights. Norway is so full of adventures in the winter that you will barely notice the absence of sun.

  1. Alaska

There is no doubt that Alaska is a unique phenomenon, thanks to its year-long winter climate.

There is plenty to see and experience, including the snow-draped mountains, Glacier Bay, and of course, the Denali National Park. However, if you want to see the northern lights and experience freezing in pitch darkness, the city of Barrow is the place to go.

Alaska is also home to the World Ice Art Championships that sees artists all over the world chisel sculptures from the ice rocks. You can also take part in heli-skiing Alaska to enjoy the powder snow in breathtaking mountains.

  1. Chamonix, France

The first winter Olympics were held in Chamonix, France in 1924. It is a stunning place with snow-covered mountains, deep snowfall, and many winter sports. The RAF conducts alpine training missions here thanks to the strategic mountains. If you want to really experience winter sports, this is the place to be as they still hold a vibrant sports history.

  1. Los Glaciares National Park, Argentina

Global warming has shown its ugly head on many countries that used to boast glaciers and incredible natural beauty. However, Los Glaciares in Argentina seems to get the opposite effect because the glaciers there keep doubling in size. Argentina has one of the coldest winters, which makes it possible for three glaciers to converge together and then crumble.

  1. Antarctica

The ultimate cold-weather vacation spot is Antarctica. This entire continent is beautifully covered in snow and ice. You will need someone to keep pinching you to believe that it’s a real place on earth. A diverse range of wildlife also crowns Antarctica, and you will often see seals and penguins just posing for pictures like its normal.

Northern lights, penguins, seals, and powder white mountains are just some of the reasons you must visit a winter vacation spot. You will get to appreciate nature a little more when you are outside than hiding under your bedding for two months. Take a cruise tour to one of the destinations and enjoy every sight, winter sports, and activity that comes with it.
