Giving Tuesday is upon us, and I couldn’t be more excited. You see, I may lead a very comfortable life right now, but it wasn’t always that way. Coming from a single-income household with four children, things were not always very easy for our family. While we weren’t on public assistance, there were many times that my sisters and I went without…and we relied heavily upon the goodwill of our family and friends. I don’t know if Giving Tuesday was a real thing back in the 80s and 90s, but I am absolutely thrilled that it exists now – and even more thrilled that companies like T-Mobile take a part in it!
As Angeline was growing up, we didn’t have a ton of money. Now, we weren’t anywhere near the level that my own childhood entailed, but we didn’t live a lavish lifestyle. She was an only child…and as we all know Only Child Syndrome is often synonymous with Selfish Child Syndrome.
My ex husband grew up poor as well, and as we worked hard to raise a compassionate, giving child, we often told her stories about how we did without as kids. We encouraged her to give toys away to less fortunate children. We are VERY big on donating to charities – both financially and physically.
We were the family that would give gift cards for the grocery store to her friend’s families who may not have enough to eat. We bought gifts for the PTA to hand out during the holidays to the less fortunate families. Toys for Tots has always been a very big deal for us. So you can imagine, when I began to learn about T-Mobile and their involvement in Giving Tuesday, I knew that this was the perfect campaign for me!
About T-Mobile’s Giving Tuesday Donations
For 2018, T-Mobile has set aside more than $2 million dollars for Giving Tuesday – and in typical Un-carrier fashion, they’re empowering customers, fans, employees to decide where it goes! Yes, that means that YOU get to help decide how to help GIVE on Giving Tuesday! Why? Because T-Mobile isn’t just like any other carrier. They want us all to have the opportunity to give back in ways that matter to us!
So, here is how this works:
If you’re a current T-Mobile customer, on Giving Tuesday (11/27) via the TMT app, you have a chance to give $1 on us to Feeding America ($1=10 meals). You can also give via text, and you will have the opportunity to win a gift code that you can use to donate to charity as well! T-Mobile is giving back through their own employees too! On Giving Tuesday, T-Mobile will deposit $27 in every T-Mobile employees Giving Account so that they can donate to any charity of their choice AND it doesn’t stop there: T-Mobile will match any additional donations on behalf of employees.
Now, you don’t HAVE to be a current T-Mobile customer to participate in this amazing program – that’s how much T-Mobile cares about Giving Tuesday. Anyone can retweet @TMobile’s Giving Tuesday tweet on 11/27, and T-Mobile will donate $1 (10 meals) to Feeding America.
You might be asking yourself WHY T-Mobile is doing this…
T-Mobile’s commitment to giving goes far beyond Giving Tuesday! Through programs supporting disaster relief, youth education, sustainability, hunger in America and more … PLUS employee matching and volunteer programs, T-Mobile is a company that cares! They’ve given more than $8M and 34,000 volunteer hours have been donated to local and national organizations in 2018 alone!
Come to our T-Mobile Twitter Party on November 29th! T-Mobile will provide 5 $100 Benevity Gift Code prizes for the Twitter party that winners can use to give to a charity of their choice!
