If you haven’t heard of Small Business Saturday yet, it’s time to check it out and get involved!
I love supporting local small businesses, especially during the holiday season! One of Angeline’s and my favorite restaurants is a tiny restaurant called The Tea Room, and it’s in Cauley Square Historical Village, which is just a few miles away from us. We love taking my mom there for a random Saturday lunch of quiche and spiced tea, we had my sister’s bridal shower there, my aunt’s baby shower was there – we celebrate as many events there as we can and they always do a superb job!
Each room is decorated in a different vintage theme: the butterfly room is our favorite!
When I was a little girl, my grandmother used to take my mom and I to Cauley Square and it is something that has always stuck with me. It’s a small little block that’s totally hidden to the main highway behind giant ficus trees, and there are restaurants, fountains, gardens, and little shops too!
On some weekends, Cauley Square hosts classic car shows, there is live jazz on Friday nights when the weather is nice, and you can find some of the most unique Christmas decorations around in their little shops.
Which brings me to my point; Chris, Angeline and I will be paying a visit to Cauley Square tomorrow to do a little Christmas shopping for Small Business Saturday #SmallBizSat! They have a little toy store where all of the toys are either vintage or handmade, as well as a lovely boutique called O’Sew Crafty that sells one of a kind Christmas decor, ornaments and other holiday treats that are all made by local craftsmen and women.
I’ll be choosing some new Christmas decorations as well as finding unique gifts for friends and family at O’Sew Crafty!
After we finish up at Cauley Square, we will grab a quick bite to eat at one of our local restaurants and then head to Chris’ favorite hobby shop. He has a bit of a remote-controlled helicopter obsession as of late…I think that hobby shop gets more of our money than the grocery store! ha!
How will you Shop Small on Small Business Saturday? I’ll be tweeting and updating Facebook with the #ShopSmall hashtag throughout the day, I’d love to see you join in as we promote our neighborhood small businesses!
I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for American Express. I received a promotional item as a thank-you for participating.
