Being a home owner means different things to different people. To me, it's all about having the freedom to do whatever I want to my home, whenever the urge strikes me to do it...well, as long as it's within our budget that month!
We have been debating back and forth between all of the projects that we want to do around the house. Should we tile the front porch or remodel the bathroom? Should we add in a second bathroom? Should we remodel our kitchen? Should we have the front and back doors replaced, or put our above ground pool back up and build a deck?
Can you guess which project I want to start first?
If you guessed "put our above ground pool back up and build a deck" you would be 100% correct!
We took down our above ground pool in June because we needed to level out the ground and make it more stable. Our above ground pool had a deep end, which is a no-no. I've missed it so much in the last two months!
We do so much outdoor entertaining, especially during the summer, that our backyard tends to get more TLC than any other part of our property. I love being outdoors, especially during the summer. A good book, a glass of tea (or wine) and my hot pink raft in the pool? That's just heaven!
When our pool was functional, that is where everyone gathered on sunny summer afternoons.
Who am I kidding? We gathered there on not-so-sunny October afternoons too. One of the benefits to living in a tropical climate is that almost any time is pool time!
The majority of our parties and family gatherings center around the outdoors. My daughter's friends come over on the weekends to hang out in the pool, my mom and sister call during the middle of the day to ask to come over for lunch and all of our friend's parties are either at our house or our other friend's house who also has a pool.
When we aren't in the pool, everyone hangs out around the patio set. We bought an extra long table and additional chairs because we knew that we would need the extra space!
We grill for a lot of parties, then everyone hangs out on the patio...
Yes, even Foxy, our Alaskan Malamute!
My backyard would not be as much fun as it is without my patio set and my pool...which is why I am so desperate to get that pool back up and operational this coming weekend!
