Teenagers have a hard enough time fitting in and feeling confident without the added stress of worrying about their teeth. One of the biggest advantages of Angeline’s Invisalign Teen treatment is that she doesn’t have to worry about people seeing her corrective treatment!
I’ll be honest, Angeline is vain. I don’t know where she gets it!
Chris is probably rolling his eyes while reading this…as they say, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree!
Angeline is one of those teenage girls that is constantly looking in the mirror, fixing her hair, batting her eyelashes for an Instagram pic. Traditional braces would be out of the question, both due to way they look and the complaints we’ve heard from Angeline’s cousin about the pain they cause from tightening and the sores they create from scraping against the inside of her mouth.
Even though Angeline has been wearing her Invisalign Teen aligners for a few months now, I still have to ask her if she’s wearing them. I seriously just can’t see them unless I am standing right in front of her! Sometimes I still can’t see them, to tell you the truth. I snapped this pic at her last orthodontist appointment, when we picked up her second round of Invisalign Teen aligners.
Can you see them? I can’t, even though I KNOW she had them in when I took the picture.
What about in this picture?
No, right? Isn’t that crazy?
When they call Invisalign the “clear alternative to braces” they mean it. They are pretty clear (but not totally invisible, of course).
The Benefits of Invisalign Over Traditional Braces
Invisalign is designed to treat a range of dental issues, from mild to severe. As you can see, Angeline doesn’t have horrible dental issues. And one of her biggest issues, the little black triangle between her two front teeth – well, that’s already been corrected with only 4 sets of Invisalign Teen aligners!
Invisalign Teen aligners are removable, so your teenage can eat all their favorite foods. Nothing is forbidden, as some foods are with traditional braces. Teenagers can even chew gum, so long as they remove their aligners when they do it, and brush their teeth afterwards. I personally don’t see the point in doing all that just to chew a stick of gum for an hour, but Angeline does it. That kid loves her gum! ha ha!
Invisalign makes it easy for your teen to brush and floss. Angeline has to remove her Invisalign Teen aligners when she eats, and then she has to brush, floss and use mouthwash if she wants before putting them back in. This makes it easier for her to keep her teeth clean compared to if she wore traditional braces because there are no wires preventing her from reaching in between her teeth!
Invisalign requires fewer orthodontist visits than traditional braces. We only have to go to the orthodontist’s office once every eight weeks so that he can check her progress and give us her next set of 4 aligners. Of course, we can make other appointments if we need to; we had no problem getting an appointment when Angeline’s aligners were rubbing against her gums. He trimmed them up, put in an order so that the remaining aligners would be adjusted, and that was it – back on track!
Being a teenager is hard enough as it is. If your teen has dental problems, why not find out if Invisalign is a viable option for them?
The price of Invisalign treatment is comparable to traditional braces, and most insurance plans cover Invisalign treatment the same as they would a treatment plan with traditional braces.
