When my husband and I got married 10 years ago, my daughter was already 3 years old. She was a difficult child to say the least. I already knew by that point that I did not want to have more children – not just because she had been difficult, but because I came from a very large family and I felt that it would be easier for me/us to raise one child. My husband was perfectly happy with only one child, and having missed the sleepless nights, potty-training stage, he was content to raise my daughter and enjoy the rest of her childhood diaper free.
Yet, as the years passed, I felt that biological clock ticking. Regardless of how I felt about having more children, there was always a part of me that wanted to nurture, to love – to mother. Something. Anything. Given that my husband and I both love animals, whenever that nurturing urge began to press on me, we would add a new pet to the family. We now stand at 3 dogs, 2 cats, a hamster, a snake and a few stray cats that we feed on a regular basis.
My dogs are my babies. I adore them. We have an Alaskan Malamute and two Shetland Sheepdogs – and if our house was larger, we’d most likely have more furry little bundles of love running around!
I am constantly trying new toys and treats out on my dogs and cats – but mostly my dogs. As much as I love our cats, let’s face it – they’re fickle creatures! So my dogs get most of my attention, and subsequently, most of the treats!
I was recently given the opportunity to try out Bil-Jac’s Noggin Nuggets, which is a great, fortified doggy treat with Vitamin B12 and Folic Acid that helps support the brain, and Vitamin A and C that helps nourish my dog’s immune system. They’re made with fresh chicken and chicken organs, which make them very appetizing to our dogs, and healthier than the treats stores sell that are full of artificial ingredients.
My dogs LOVE them! Although Foxy, our 100 lb Alaskan Malamute is really too big for a bite sized treat like this, she still begs for them when she sees me bring out the bag! All three dogs begin to drool and bounce right into the sit position (I have trained my dogs to do certain tricks in order to receive treats) when they see that bright orange bag come out of the china cabinet!
The Bil-Jac treats even smell like meat, which I supposed is why my dogs all go crazy for them! I feel good about giving them something that is good for them and that they obviously love so much.
